I have heard a rumor that as of June 6th, Yahoo's auctions are free. Anyone else hear of this?

First, the increase fees to improve the quality of the site. Now, they get rid of them to improve "quality" - Kind of makes you think it isn't the price of the auctions, but the "quality" of buyers, or lack of them. Guess you have to give them credit for trying. If Bidville is still in business, sucks to be them!

Yeah, they have no FEE SCHEDULE that Ralphie can find under "HELP"

However, there is THIS:

Well hell - why not give it a run then? I'm sure this is enabled by the paid ads that seem to be breeding on the pages these days.

Yahoo doesn't hold a candle to eBay, but I always had more luck there than any other 3rd party site.

I'll be trying them again!

I like Yahoo Auctions because of the ability to upload via an .csv file, as well as the automatic time extension when bids are placed near auction's end.

The concept of auction is passe!
thats why i dont understand why Overstock bothers to start one, unless they dont know any better.
If you look at many ebay listings, they have only one bid,and how could you call that an auction??
AND if there is more than one bid, each bid is not too much more than the previous one.

Overstock started auctions in hopes of drawing people to their main shopping site.

Yep. Auctions are just another gimmick with Overstock. Overstock is not in auctons for the long haul.

I sold a few hundred items on Overstock, most of the bidders are Overstock customers, they are always constantly surfing the site looking for new arrivals.
But the auction fever is dying a slow death, same old same old repros and cheap junks.

2 or 3 years ago, when Yahoo was FREE, I was then a Power Seller on eBay, and I tried Yahoo, and for the year I used it, before they started charging, I sold 1 1/2 times more than I did on eBay, with much less cost, but I did have to do lots of relisting, as a one time listing didn't usually sell the item.

The major problem I had then with Yahoo was that my pre-done eBay templates would not fit on Yahoo, and for every Yahoo auction, and I carried many auctions, at that time on Yahoo, all had to be re-formatted for Yahoo. I think there was also a limited number of links one could use, therefore limiting pictures, connections to such as PayPal, etc.

When I get some time, I am going to try it again, eBay has just gotten too over priced, and actually, I only have listings in my store at this time.

Give Yahoo a try, might send a message to eBay regarding their never ending upping charges!!

I just ran some keywords in Yahoo on items I buy and sell. A very common word that brings up over 1,500 items on eBay finds 2 items on Yahoo. I can see that your item would not get lost in the clutter BUT why would buyers come back to a site with such a paltry showing?

Yahoo listings should start to increase dramatically. I'll be searching there for good buys.

I have already had sales since the new no fee structure. I still can't figure why they wouldn't want a small FVF. As a seller, I have no problem giving them a FVF if I am successful in my listing. Oh well, I guess I will just have to keep the money then.
