"Free Border & Subtitle on eBay: June 7-9!"

"eBay Giving Works ... support your favorite charity ... an easy way to donate part of your sale and make your lisings stand out!"

"charity listing special" ... "Get Details" (clickable) .... and "Go To Seller Central" (also clickable)

---------------
MIGHT REALLY be from ebay, but it's got 2 clickable hotlinks in it, so I forwarded it to Spoof, just to mess with 'em and keep them busy over there ...

even the headers, (i think) look suspicious:

So back to my original question, did any of you get this email yesterday? I've only received my initial response so far, from Spoof dept. ... but no confirmation yet whether it's from eBay or not.

Yes, I also received it. I went to eBay announcement board, and there is no mention of it. I just scheduled an auction using subtitles, and there was a 50 cent charge for it, so I don't think it is from eBay. I didn't click on the link they gave, I always go right to the site for the info.

well, Amber... yesterday was the 6th ... this says the 7th-thru-9th ... and IF it is 'real', I think you only get the discount if you designate your auction to that 'mission fish' thingy, like an ebay Charity auction ....

... and this is only IF the email was 'real'.
Which I still am not sure of LOL ... excellent colorful html'ed email ...

Yes, I also got that e-mail. The announcement board is frequently way behind in announcing anything.

So, now everyone is going to have a border around their auctions. What a horrible idea! Even junk will be bordered. It will now be the auctions without one that will stand out.

Yahoo gives free auctions and with no ending value fees, and eBay responds with free borders for 3 days!

I agree, the auctions without borders might be more noticable, since you can expect every listing to take advantage of this very special offer.

Where are all the borders and subtitles that should have shown yesterday if they were free? All I saw on the ebay listing page was the regular price for borders and subitles.

Took ebay 1-3/4 days to give me their final reply on this "spoof" I forward to them ... sheesh ...

First part:
"Hello, Thank you for writing to eBay.
This email you received was sent by us. Please be assured that we do not
want to send you any emails that you prefer not to receive. You selected
your email notification preferences ...{blah blah blah}"

So I told THEM:
We were worried for TWO IMPORTANT REASONS: because in the "detail headers" of the email, one of the lines LITERALLY read, "Received: from [10.108.161.70] (dooby1-snat.smf.ebay.com [10.108.160.70] (may be forged)"

and number two, it had clickable links in it ....

..............
yep I'm messing with them a bit, but honest to God, you canNOT often know which emails are REALLY from them, and which are NOT!
