5.3 centered on Yucaipa, on the San Andreas fault this time. We sure felt it up here in the mountains but no damage--just a lot of adrenaline.

We had a 3.5 hit at Avenal about 4 AM today. That's only about 30 miles from here. Looks like the big one off the coast started a domino effect. They'll probably stop when they reach San Diego. Hang on Fenix!!!

Jack...If you check the map I posted in the "heads up" thread, you'll see the aftershocks that have occurred. There's been 4 in the last hour.

hey sparkz, how far is Van Nuys from LA and do they really have a nut tree airport? I've been having some buyers from there...wondering if I am attracting the nut tree fallouts or what is going on...lol!!

Dbl...Van Nuys is in the San Fernando Valley, just north of L.A. They have more or less grown together over the years so that most people have trouble finding the dividing line. The only way to tell the difference is that in L.A. an invitation to a formal event means the men wear clean bowling shirts and the women braid their arm pits. In the SFV, they don't know what a formal event is.

Sparkz: Up here in Idyllwild, we say that "formal wear" means men must wear shoes. We've lived here 4 years now, and I haven't had a pair of heels or a dress or skirt on in those 4 years. We go to a lot of functions, too, even artsy ones, but pants outfits are fine for women--and of course much more comfortable. Last time my husband put on his "good" leather shoes for a dinner down in the flatlands they had a thick layer of dust on them. LOVVVVVVVE living here.

Here in the San Joaquin Valley, a formal event means I have to wear a T-shirt without holes in it and clean socks. If it's a special occasion, such as a wedding, I wear a pair of levi's that doesn't have the crotch ripped out. Much better than when I was going to college in San Francisco and working there. Had to wear a suit every day and a (ugh) tie. They even frown on cowboy boots up there.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

Up here is the Santa Maria Valley, "formal" means clean Levis & your best boots. I might even put a pair of slacks tonight as we are going to the Radisson to hear Jane Rusel & friends. Oh yes, I meant the Jane Russel. She lives here in S/M.

950 quakes in one week. Hope they don't run out of Dramamine out here.

Sparkz,
I pulled up that chart last night and could not believe my eyes. Now I'm wondering why there is not more talk of that much activity on the news? It seems to me like its time to take a vacation in Vegas <g>.

Better yet, we'll let the CA VD'ers come on over here to Florida for the summer. We haven't seen a hurricane in a few months.

ltray...Since I posted that map last night, 13 more have been added. And that takes into account the ones that are over a week old and scrolled off today. Looks like most of them are aftershocks from the one that rattled Jack. Bet he was rocking and rolling at the swap meet today. The one by Roadsmith has been shaking a little bit also. They don't even bother to report most of these on the news unless it's a 4.0 or bigger. The brown lines you see on the map are identified faults. Any one of them can slip and cause a quake. As for going to Florida, the minute I stepped of the plane, a hurricane warning would be announced. I don't think you would want me bringing bad luck to you. Why don't we meet in Wichita instead? They spend so much time in cellars there dodging tornadoes, they wouldn't even notice if we brought a quake or hurricane with us
