My husband just decided to reuse a computer we have not used in 2 years- However he cannot remember his microsoft windows 98 password- I have tried contacting Microsoft but of course I got their New Delhi office and could not make head or tail out of what they were saying- I tried online support and got just as much jibberish- Anyone know how to solvwe this- ??? would really appreciate it-

As long as were talking computer problems,,,,,I just got yet ANOTHER Gateway comp....the guy said he did ALL the tricks on it, I get it home, turn it on, the desk top comes up. Great! But,,,,,,NO Mouse and NO keyboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sure thier plugged in,, i have a pile of computers in the corner so I DO know what I am doing. thank you....Natually I CAN'T get the guy I bought it from to RETURN my calls.....
Gotta be something simple? It worked at HIS place....

lol Jack hope this works...hubby said unplug them and switch holes you have them plugged in backwards.He said they both have the same plug in.

For the password problem -- try doing one simple thing. When it asks for it, hit the "Escape" button. (ESC) on the top left of your keyboard.
You'd be amazed at the security .
Depending on the version of OS, etc., it does work.
Can't hurt.

he might not remember his own password, but most PCs have an ADMINISTRATOR account.
Try typing in administrator as the USER ID and try either a blank password OR admin OR administrator as the password (my best guess here would be a blank password).
