now that the EBAY LIVE is going on, I can't help but remember a couple of years ago when EBAY announced that they would be offering health insurance to their powerseller community.

whatever happened to that? (it was a lot of HOT air, right?)

no insurance company would offer a decent deal,as the consensus is that powersellers are a loose confederation of individual sellers who work at home, either full time or part time and they are not employees of Ebay.

They offered it. As far as I know they still do offer it... Unfortunately, it's every bit as difficult to get accepted and expensive to maintain as simply getting yourself insured privately.

Want insurance? Leave eBay out of it and get it yourself... There is NO benefit to working through eBay's Powerseller program.

The powerseller were given individual discount cards this year at e-Bay Live for discounts on prescription, vision, diabetic care, (I don't have it in front of me) I think even dental?? You have to call an 800 number to find the providers in your area.

Do you know the 800 # and thanks for the information. Sure wish they "cared enough" to drop us all an email saying call this # for your card!

Those cards are just gimmicks,if you shop around or offer to pay cash etc,you can get the same discount.
As for prescription drug,I have been buying them from Mexico at 30-60 percent discount without a card.

Are you afraid to do that - I've heard that could be dangerous?

the company(ies) which market these drugs are based in USA but the factory is in Mexico and they are either licensed to make the same prescription drug from the US drug companies and sold outside USA or they are generic counterparts.
the generic version is better than what we can get here, each is blistered packed, better than the pharmacy here where they take out a large bottle and start counting when filling your prescription.
They dont carry every drug so you may have to order from different sites ,shipping is by registered mail for 10 dollars, usually take 10 days to arrive,so you have to plan ahead, there is no expedited shipping.
Note of caution-if you are used to US generic coming from a large bottle ,you may find their blister packed version fresher and more potent,so be aware,
Second is time of delivery is 10 days by regsitered mail,s0 plan ahead.
Third is the box label and the sheet are in Spanish and carry the Spanish name and explanation,so make sure you write the English name you are familiar with on the box,esp if you are ordering more than one drug.
Fourth, there is always the risk it could be intercepted by the FDA and you will be asked to show up in person with doc prescription to claim the drug.
So far i have no problem with my orders,my orders are for treating GERD/Acid reflux and the drugs are generic Nexium and Prevacid.I paid under 200 dollars for my order which would have cost me over 400 dollars if I fill them here.

I mailed the card home to myself.

USPS if providing free priority box shipping home for the convention goers.

I'll look it up on Tuesday and let you know.
