Yep ... There's more to be told.

Today I went to the Other PO (the good one) and asked the clerk to scan my packages. She asked if they were prepaid and I said no that I needed to pay for the postage and DC. She said that they always scan those. Then she looked at me and said "Did you have a problem with XYZ PO?" I told her that I had and explained what had happened. She jumped on the phone and called them immediately, spoke with the postmaster (the one that was giving me trouble) and proceeded to let him have it! (Well, I guess I can't go back THERE now!)

She then told me that I wasn't the only one that they were doing this to. They would basically refuse to do certain things and drive the customers to her PO. She said that they just don't want to work. And they have to learn that customer service comes first.

I think what they do up there is to give the customers that ship alot of packages at once (i.e., ebayers) a hard time so that they don't come back. The other post office is just a few minutes away, so the customers that they have driven away use the other one. Unfortunately, those poor ladies are busting their butts to keep up with all of the work. It's a shame because the other PO is bigger and has 4 clerks, whereas this one only has 2.

She gave me a card with an 800 # and wrote down who to speak with. She told me that they do that again, to call them and report them, and that if enough customers do this, something will be done about it.

Interestingly enough, I saw two ebayers walk in with their packages as I was leaving, all with DC.

And all this time I thought it was just me!

That's OK, if the bad P.O. dosen't get enough customers, when it comes time to eliminate jobs they'll get it first

Sorry, but the Government will FIRE the competent ones and keep on the incompetent ones.

Just ask the replacement carriers that replaced the competent carrier 6 years ago. They still can't get things delivered to the right person a in 20 unit complex......

Well, I just got good and fed up! My carrier STUFFED a phone book (now crumpled) and 4 packages in my little mailbox (two of which said DO NOT BEND). This wasn't the first time he did it either.

I took that little card that the nice clerk gave me and filed a complaint against my carrier AND the rotten PO. I told them that I was afraid to go back to the rotten PO because every time I do, I get into a verbal confrontation. I also stated that I was even afraid to file the complaint against the carrier, but this was way too much. My items that I purchase for resale were all crumpled! The carrier was too lazy to bring them to my door (like they are supposed to), or if I'm not home to give me a pick-up slip. I would gladly pick-up my mail from the PO if it means that they don't get crumpled!

The postal consumer affairs is supposed to contact me back with this MESS!

UGH!!! I'm so mad right now. Where the heck is my Bud Light?????

That's weird because their payroll budget is determined by the number of pieces they process. The only time I can get them to run strips en masse is during Christmas otherwise they individually process every package even when they know the weight is the same. The more pieces processed, the more people they can hire. My post office loves ebayers because they are low maintanence customers that have justified additional hirings to deal with the high maintanence ones.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

I am just so PO'd at my PO right now that I'm spitting nails. I think they are all just lazy (although I must say that the substitute carriers bring them to my door).

Thank you Lord!! I have the Best Damn carrier in the world. I print my own postage & put the packages on a milk under my box, sometimes there are 3 or 4 going out the same day. She always has a smile & cheerfully picks them up. Saves me a trip to the PO. Wish I could do that with pkgs to UK.

Bizzy...The Postmaster at the bad P.O. and the clerk with an attitude. Would either of them, by any chance, happen to be named Dennis?

Since I started my business in early 2000 I have lived in a dozen cities in 6 states.

Each area has a completely different personality.

Some cities were dismal with problematic nasty clerks. Some cities were sharp, efficient and knowledgable about online postage.

At one PO I had a problem clerk like you did. It came to a showdown were I made a scene and told the clerk that they can't MAKE let alone ENFORCE whatever trendy side rules they want to come up with on a whim.

If they try to tell you they can't do this or that tell them TO SHOW YOU IN PRINT THESE NEW RULES!!! and that you'll gladly follow them once it is a national rule all PO's must follow. Remind them that you are the PAYING CUSTOMER.

Have them give you the phone number of the regional POST MASTER, not just the name of the branch manager. File a formal complaint if it doesn't get resolved.

Once that clerk gets an attitude adjustment business will go on as usual. It may take time for you to stop going in ready for battle and them to not be instantly defensive but it can become more civil and even friendlier.

Kinda like a fight with a friend, you either never speak again or one side makes amends. You shouldn't have to go to a different PO to make a clerks life easier.

I'm not sure if I have missed something here, as you can print and pay for postage through eBay/PayPal, even if your customer does not pay with PayPal. Of course you need a PayPal account.

I print my labels at home with DC and leave at the mailbox for my mailperson. PayPal has discontinued the extra 20 cent fee for printing the label. So, you only pay for the cost of postage plus 13 cents for DC.

I rarely ever go to the P.O. Why stand in line, when you can print at home, and relax. Even if you hate PayPal, it sure beats waiting, and waiting for service at the P.O.

If you are lonesome, or need to get out of the house, you can still just drive to the P.O. and drop off and say hello to all your friends. There would be no need to stand with your packages, just hand them over the counter.
