hmmm...where am i going wrong here?

according to the eBay help pages, if i put this link - http://www.ebaystores.com/postcardspostcards?refid=postcardspostcards - in eoa automated invoices to buyers and they click on the click, enter my store and buy again, i'll get the 75% FVF credit on any additional purchase.

however, when i go to customize my e'mail at eBay and include that link, eBay tells me:
"Please remove any Web addresses, javascript, or prohibited words."

so...i realize that ebay.com is a web address and hence the problem, i think...how does one fix this so that it's part of the EOA notice? what am i missing here? thanks.

substituting the ampersand for the question mark (which they mention in the help pages) doesn't work either...

Hello. Can the original poster of this thread post the url to that exact ebay page that gives info on referral credits? I think this is a great idea to cut costs as a seller and would like to look into it too. I've checked a few of the ebay help pages but didn't spot it.

Thanks!

hi blackjack,

i started out with a less comprehensive link to this subject in the "manage my store" section of ebay. the biggest link is actually this one...

http://pages.ebay.com/help/specialtysites/referral-credit-steps.html

my problem occurs in step 3, where i do what ebay says (see my original post above) but then ebay disallows it because of the dot.com error message i got. how does one create the url info that ebay wants without including a web site (ebay.com) without getting the error message saying to remove any reference to a dot.com?!!!

which came first, the chicken or the egg?

I take it you're referring to when you send an invoice THROUGH ebay's invoicing system? ... and you are trying to put the 'refid' thingy at the end of the url inside the 'message' area?

I think the only way to send a store-referral-credit link is thru a private email (i.e., not through the ebay system).

You might wait for live chat to open on eBay and ask them. I have this store referral link on all three of my web stores splash pages and on many individual pages.

When I send my marketing emails (such as to a dentist that buys ads with big teeth) I always include the link in those. I get a nice amount of credits that way.

Hi. Vintagepostcards, I appreciate the help finding the store referral info. Once I found the ebay store referral code that worked for me, I really went to town with adjusting my e-mails to customers, my website, etc. I appreciate the help, and good luck with yours too.

Vintage - I think the referral id ending should end in "store" and not (in your case) "postcardspostcards".

To refer to home page:
http://www.ebaystores.com/postcardspostcards?refid=store"

did you try that?

If you wanted people to go to "vintage state views" instead of home page:

Splash page is the first page of your web site (or so I was told). Anyway if you go to the main page of www.vintageads4u, it will direct you to other stores on ebay and ioffer. The ebay link is the refer link.
