I got a notice from E-Bay this morning that an auction I had bid on about a month ago has been cancelled because the Sellers account had been cancelled. Nothing like telling the whole world. Probably another one that couldn't pay his fee-bill. I guess sellers that are trying to run a lot of auctions are really feeling the slump in sales. I'm only running a few and put the rest in my store. I was hoping for a 10 cent FP listing but don't look like we're going to see one. I guess Meg is on a cruise somewhere.

I agree MAH - we desperately need SOMETHING!!!! I can't believe ebay hasn't offered reduced listing fee days. I actually did all the business I wanted last summer thanks to a few of those "specials" - I have been listing this summer but am thinking I might as well take the rest of the summer off - things are selling as "one bid wonders" or not at all - not worth $.35 to figure out which. So much for a vibrant marketplace. I never thought I would say this but Yahoo is looking better all the time....just have to drag the buyers over there!

How can an Ebay auction last one month??
I wish I could find the right word for Free Listing ,it is an oxy moron idea where sellers unleash zillion of listings while the number of bidders stay the same?
The problem is too many sellers and too many listings, how is Free Listing going to solve the problem??

Stop, I couldn't figure out why they would notify me a month later after that auction was completed either.

Instead of praying for a free listing day, pray for more sellers biting the dust.

stopwhining,

i think we might be on the same wavelength about the FLDs...i've been wondering why everyone gets so excited about FLDs. the only time i really notice a drop in my sales is...during FLDs, when there are about one-third more items listed on ebay than usual.

i HATE FLDs! why do most people seem to like them? i don't get it.

I LOVE FLD and listing "sale" days! I relist everything I haven't put in my store yet. I like the auction days better than the FP ones. Once they announce the sale I make a pot of coffee and get to work - usually stay up most of the night. My sell through isn't normally that great but business begets business! Bids on other auctions that I have running and store sales increase while I have my 800+ items listed.

Last summer was particularly good because not that many people (compared to "prime" listing season) participated.

I am sure this probably would happen if I just listed everything on a "regular day" for $.35 but I am just too cheap to do that! Someday I am going to try it (listing everything) but not in the summer!!

I'm with you vintagepostcardsdotorg - I actually do the opposite when FLD or RLD (reduced listing day) comes around - My sales seem to be lower around that time because so much stuff is listed. Even if I list 500 items, what have I saved, $50? It isn't enough to really get too excited about, and the reduced bidding and store sales would reduce profits anyway.

If you believe there will be less listings once the free listing items ended, then spend an extra dime to start your item a day later ,you may get more bids.

I do great on free listing or .10 cent listing days. I thing the reason is that I run all my higher priced stuff. Last time I saved over $400.00 in listing fees and sold just under $10,000.00
