I was thinking about starting a second Ebay account. Can you have more than one? I also do not want to take Pay Pal since I have my own merchant account.

Thanks.

Absolutely! I have, let me see... At least five accounts. Some are for buying, some are for selling "this" and others for "that", and so forth. There are lots of uses for multiple accounts.

You need a seperate email address for each account, but yes, you are allowed to have as many as you want.

Just make sure that there is no bidding between accounts. "Shill Bidding" is one of the quickest ways to get banned permanently from eBay!

If you use Vendio's services on Ebay, you will need to set up a second Vendio account for your new Ebay account. You can't service multiple Ebay accounts from a single Vendio account.

It was easy opening a second account. I wanted this account for selling different items not related to what I sell now. I do not remember but is there a requirment that you HAVE TO have Pay Pal?

Nope...Paypal is NOT required...EBay owns PayPal, thus they will try and ram in down your throat, however, by no means do you have to set up a Paypa account...But knowing EBay, that is probably going to be a reality one of these days!!!

In fact you are better off not accepting PayPal. It is way safer with your own merchant account and the fees are much lower.

Actually, you are safer taking a personal check than you are accepting a credit card payment through any middleman that charges a fee. If they do a chargeback against the CC, you're screwed. If the check bounces, they're screwed, assuming you have a district attorney that has the huevos to rattle their cage.

" It is way safer with your own merchant account "

How so? I know in my case, Over the years I think I've had one or two chargebacks through Paypal and maybe a dozen through my bank.

Credit cards are a small risk no matter HOW you accept them. It's just one of those things you have to live with and take shelter in that MOST people are honest.

The merchant account is much more safer as when you process the transaction, the credit check is done right then and there.

With PayPal, the credit check is done well after the fact. They even told us that about 4 weeks ago. When a buyer sends money, it is automatically accepted without any kind of credit check. That part of the transaction is done a few days later. This is why people are getting chargebacks with the reason of, "You have accepted fraudulant funds" when in fact PayPal doesn't bother to check to make sure the payment is good first. There system offers zero up front protection for the seller at all.
