I installed a new Microsoft keyboard and when I rebooted the computer all my files reversed.
Now, I see the z files before the A
Ex: When I opened my word files I used to see my folders in alphabetical order and then the individual document files. Now, I see the document files and then the folders...reversed starting with z and going to a.
Same with photo files. I used to see 101, 102, 103 etc. now I se 103, 102, 101 and it is even worse on my "real" work files where I have diagrams of streets.
I have worked with computers for over 20 years and never had this happen.
Anyone know why it is like this and/or how to fix it?

Do you use Windows XP? if so you probably didn't need to do anything but plug the new keyboard in and not install any software. Try system restore if you have it. See if new keyboard installs itself on reboot.
I never heard of that happening either.

Is this in ALL Windows Explorer folders? If it's only in 1 or 2, select "Detail" view, click on the "Name" column header, and it will reverse the order.
If it is in all, then you probably have to reset your default folder preferences. Do what I stated above, then go to your preferred default (details, tiles,thumbnails, etc.) then in that same window, go to Tools...Folder Options... View and select "Apply to all folders".

Thank you cash! That worked perfectly.
irked; i probably shouldn't have installed anything because the keyboard did work but there are special features that weren't working until I installed the program.
I can't think of anything that should have caused the mess with my files though. I am so happy to have them back to normal!

If you have any folders or files open while changing any hardware, it can change the order of the files. What Cash suggested will fix the problem.
