Don't ya just luv it when your day starts off with an email from a buyer. A buyer that is informed on everything .
This is in response to my not leaving feedback first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Judy,
I have talked to ebay in the past about feedback both as a buyer and seller. As for the buyer once the buyer pays and funds are verified, the buyer has completed their end of the contract and there is no reason for the seller not to post feedback. There is nothing else the seller needs the buyer is obligated to do,to receive positive feedback. to do. This was the guidelines that ebay gave me.
I feel that anyone that sells me an item to wait until I post feedback is holding me "hostage". I completed my one and only obligation I had to the seller by paying for the item in the specified period of time given by the seller.
The seller on the other hand had number of obligations. The item has to meet the description and condition as described by the seller.
Wow! I'm very impressed. She must be something extra special if people at eBay are actually 'talking' to her about feedback.
I wonder if she spoke with Meg?
Seriously though, I'd be tempted to tie a pork chop around her neck and send her over to the Feedback Board.
Or send her to take the feedback tutorial and quiz.
Here's something that may enlighten the twit. It's question #4.
"Question:You paid for an item, but it hasn't yet arrived. Since you paid you expect the seller to leave feedback first. Should the seller leave feedback upon receipt of payment?
a. Yes. Since you paid, the seller should leave feedback first
b. No. The seller should wait until you leaves feedback, signaling your satisfaction with the item and the transaction.
c. No. The seller has automated part of the transaction process using auction management software so the seller should let the system leave the feedback based on the criteria they chose when they programmed the software.
d. Each member may choose the best approach to leaving feedback for them."
And the answer is..........
D!!! Ding ding ding ding, yes D!!
"That's right! There are different philosophies on whether the buyer or seller should leave feedback first. Research shows that sellers who leave feedback upon receipt of payment receive a higher percentage of feedback, but either approach is acceptable.
One reason that sellers leave feedback upon receipt of payment is that they believe that the buyer has upheld his or her end of the transaction. One reason sellers wait until a buyer has left feedback is they take the feedback as the signal that the buyer is satisfied with the purchase and no further customer support is needed.
If the approach your buyer or seller takes matters to you, review the comments left for others in their Member Profile page to see when they leave feedback.
Gee, I wonder why Meg didn't tell her this when they talked about feedback?
I emailed my "informed "customer-
Hi
Thanks for your purchase and quick payment.
I understand and respect your position about giving and receiving feedback.
I have been selling on eBay for over seven years. My approach has always been that the transaction is not complete until the customer receives their item.
I have not once solicited feedback from anyone. I know buyers do put notes in the packages, or in emails asking that feedback be left.
eBay does not mandate the leaving order of feedback or require feedback be left by either the buyer or seller.
When I received feedback, I leave my customers feedback in kind.
I hope you respect my position as I do yours.
thanks , Judi
I let my buyers know that the feedback system is automated via eBay and it will respond to reciprocal feedback. So far, no complaints. I figure if someone wants feedback they will leave it, if they don't they won't.
This person is a jerk. You were too kind. Good for you to give a civil answer.
Buyer is crazy if they take all that time to write a long message in order to get a seller to post feedback first.
Sounds like the buyer might be unsatisfied with the transaction, and might want to hold YOUR feedback "hostage".
I think about 15%-20% of buyers don't even bother to leave feedback, whether they've received positive feedback or not.
It works both ways. I buy more than I sell. As a seller, I wait to receive FB from buyers and always reciprocate quickly. As a buyer, I leave FB when the item arrives assuming all is well. I have failed to receive ANY feedback from a number of sellers over the years, quite a few of them powersellers. Too busy listing jillions of auctions I guess. They got my FB, but stiffed me on theirs. That stinks but whatcha gonna do??
I know we've talked this to death, previously, and some may jump me here--but I leave feedback upon payment of the item from the buyer UNLESS I have a hinky feeling about the transaction--something doesn't feel right, or such. Then I wait until the buyer leaves feedback. Some "young men" items are in this category, or buyers with no feedbacks at all, yet.
There's been just a couple of times in the past 8 years that I was sorry I'd left feedback first, but I don't have it all automated like some of you, and I just like to get it taken care of as I'm processing the shipment.
