I sold a lamp on 8/30/06 - she used my Vendio checkout and paid with paypal. I saw the paypal notice, packed the item and shipped it.
3 weeks later, she wrote saying she didn't have the lamp and I shipped to CA - which I did - but she lives in NY. She wanted to know how that happened.
Her paypal confirmed address was CA and it matched her ebay address. I have it posted in 3 different places " If your paypal shipping address is different from the address you provide here(vendio), your item will be shipped to your paypal address unless you email me at xxxxxxxx.net to alert me of the difference. Any additional SHI expense incurred due to a different address will be billed to winner. Thank you."
The USPS web site show they left notice on such and such date and are waiting for her to pick it up or they will return it to me.
Yesterday she filed a unreceived dispute to get her money back from paypal.
I had already told her twice I would send it to her as soon as it was returned.
But now when I look at the transaction in my paypal history, it says at the top that her CA address is confirmed - at the bottom after the same address it says Unconfirmed Residential Address. On my notice of payment from from paypal - it just says confirmed on the CA address.
She told me she had updated her address on the 7th of Sept but I shipped on the 1st. Now she is saying (in the dispute) that her NY address has been her confirmed address for 3 years??
So what's with the confirmed and unconfirmed on the same tranaction??? Anyone seen one of these.

Hi, ladyjewels! You can have more than one shipping address on file with PayPal. That's what you're seeing. I would tell the bidder that you only ship to confirmed addresses and that's what you did. She can file with PayPal, but if you have proof it was sent and it was sent to the correct confirmed address, you should be okay. However, you never know with PayPal these days.

What does she have to say about the Calif address?

Cheryl - that's what was so weird. When I go back to the original transaction in my paypal history - at the top it give the address that I shipped to and it says "Confirmed". If you continue down on the same page it has the same address but it says "Unconfirmed residential address"

hwahwa - In the dispute she said something about that being a business address - she told me she MOVED.

I just checked the USPS site and it says the following:Label/Receipt Number: xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xx
Status: Unclaimed

Your item was returned to the sender on October 03, 2006 because it was not claimed by the addressee.

So I guess I'll be getting it back soon. I don't think I even want to forward it to her now. I have not replied to the dispute yet - how long do I have? Isn't it 10 days. I would really like to wait until I have it back.

Cheryl is wrong.

Since the package has NOT been delivered yet, she will win the dispute. The parcel has to be delivered before you are off of the hook. Bottom line, I would contact the USPS and have the package returned to you. Then at least you will have the item. Consider yourself lucky. Usually the bidder gets the item and the money.

Paypal automates the verification of USPS DC status,a program will access USPS website with the DC code you provided and check the status.
A status of UNCLAIMED is not DEDIVERED or UNFOUND,you may want to call Paypal and ask how the program interprets such code-UNCLAIMED.

It was $16.60 to ship it so if I get the lamp back and paypal does a refund, that's all I will really be out. That PO's me a bit but I can live with it.
This won't happen to me again - I just dropped my Vendio check out and added "required insurance" to every item I sell.
It will be a little more work for me after the auctions but so few people use my vendio check out anyway.

Cheryl is wrong.

Stone - I didn't know they had returned it to ladyjewels and that the buyer never picked it up. The post I responded to said that the package was sitting at the PO waiting for the buyer to pick it up. Now, if I had been able to predict what lady was going to find out later in the thread that the item was never picked up and that it was returned to the sender I may have advised something different.

Taking out insurance is not going to solve your problem with this lamp, you should call Paypal and ask what is their policy when a package sent to confirmed addr is not claimed.

Maybe I'll email the buyer again and just ask if she still wants the lamp or not. I think she really wants it. She originally said she would give me her FedEx number and I could use that to ship it to NY. BUT I won't do anything if she doesn't close the dispute first.

hwahwa - I agree that insurance would not help in this case unless I don't get it back - then I could be out more like $65 instead of $16 if paypal sides with her?

Did you send it Priority? if not you might be held responsible for the return cost also. This is shat my postal clerks said if you use priority return of item is not charged to the sender but if parcel post was used and the item is returned to sender then the post office has the option to charge you again in order to get your package back. I have not had this happen to me so I don't know if they will charge you again or not. I thought it was wrong what they told me and may be but they sure said it to me.

Isn't it going to cost you extra through Paypal if they win the refund? Does Paypal get extra funds from your account when someone gets their money back in a dispute?

Irked - I'm not sure what you mean by extra funds? I did send it priority.
If paypal refunds her money - from what I understand they will refund "ALL" her money which really bites as I will have to eat the shipping when I shipped to the confirmed address that paypal provided.

I have never had a dispute but I was under understanding that if you loose the claim and she gets her full refund Paypal charges you $20.00 on top of the amount refunded.?????? Someone with more experience with Paypal could answer this better but this is what I understand. I hope I am wrong for your sake. I have looked at PP and of course you can't find anything with their help system so can't be sure.

Anyone answer this question on PP charges for a dispute?

I don't think that's true. I've only had one other dispute and I lost to the lying sack of socks. I had to refund his original shipping as it was part of his payment. I think had they charge me $20 over that I would have driven to their headquarters and punched someone in the nose!!!

I wrote my lamp lady and she still wants the lamp. She SAID she contact paypal because time was running short. I now have her FedEx account number - I think I'll have a free shipping week on ebay!!!! Just kidding.
Any words of advise on how to do this over? I'm thinking she should close the case before I ship.

If she messes ya over after shipping to her you can post her fed ex number and we can all have free shipping. LOL kidding but I would not give my number to anyone I don't think. I had a lady give me hers once for Fed Ex and also a lady sent a DHL truck with label for the package once now that was kinda neat but I had to be here or someone at a set time period of 3 hours that was a big drag cause you know they always show up that last 5 minutes of the 3 hours they give ya.
Good luck and let us know what happens. Did you already get the package back?

The return package seems to be lost in a postal black hole.
I decide to call Paypal for help. I was told that as soon tracking shows that I got the package back, paypal would refund all her money. I asked why they would refund her the shipping as it I shipped to a confirmed address (provide by them no less)? I was told that once I got the package back I wouldn't be out anything because she paid the shipping??? WHAT?? I explained that once they refund her full payment then I would be the one out for shipping - is that so hard to understand? The paypal customer service person then stated that perhaps I needed to adjust my shipping if I wasn't charging enough!!! If they are going to refund everything anyway - that would help HOW??
This is the company we allow to control our money.
I remained calm and finally got it out of her (paypal) that if I reshipped and add that tracking that the buyer would not get a refund at all.
There is no claim just a dispute so I guess I'll be OK. I'm still going to ask the buyer to add that we agreed to reship it.

Why can't we as sellers make paypal understand that shipping is expense and not always a cost that the seller should have to eat. I know - I'll send an email to them!!
