this vase stands 7 inches tall and has no maker mark, not sure where to begin looking

This is only a guess; it looks European. Is it porcelain or pottery? Someone here may be able to steer you to a possible maker. Good luck!

My semi-educated guess is 1940's - early 50's, not porcelain, probably made by a Ohio pottery. That style decoration showed up on alot of dinnerware from that era.

I'm with Max on this one. The decoration is known in collecting circles as George and Martha (Washington). You piece is most likely from one of the dinnerware potteries such as Royal China, Salem China, etc.
