I'm helping my folks clear some cabinet space and have already sold some D-handle mugs and salt/pepper shakers in the Crazy Daisy/Spring Blossom Green Correlle pattern. They also have a set of 'regular' coffee cups and a couple have a thin gray/black line around the lip. I'm reluctant to try and clean or polish that off in case it's indicative of wear and anything I do will just make it worse. Does anyone know if this might be removable? The cups are perfect other than that so I'd like to clean them to perfection prior to listing if I can. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Did you try the Mr Clean Magic Eraser?

No, I haven't tried anything yet. I wanted to wait and see if I got any pointers here, whether saying 'whatever it is should come off' or 'don't dare even try.'

For what it's worth, here's what I'd do. If I have an odd number of cups, which won't sell as easily as 2, 4, 6, 8, etc., I'd take the worst odd one and experiment on that. Maybe there's one cup in the group that has just a bit more damage or looks just a little rattier.

I've done this with various shapes of dishes in the past.

Also, if I've listed a set of 4 items but have 5 altogether, and the 4 sell, I offer the 5th to the buyer for a small amount of increased postage.

Good point Roadsmith - for some reason 3 cups will not sell, if they do sell, a pair usually does better than a set of 3. It's funny the odd numbers just don't sell well - Japanese sets come in sets of 5 rather than 4, that's the only exception.

A little bleach on a rag should do the trick as well.

I appreciate the pointers. I do have 7 cups, so I can experiment on one and still have a 'set' of 6 to list. Or, when I check closer, maybe I'll have 4 'good' ones to list without having to do much cleaning. But I'll try bleach and then go on from there if needed.

Thanks so much!

I agree with everyone else on the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser but if for some reason that doesn't work try some of the Orange Glo cleaner. That usually will do the trick.
