Hi All!

Here's a nice set of FIVE "demitasse" (?) spoons marked:

INOX "W" WOLFF

I found some WOLFF patterns at REPLACEMENTS (not this one), but what does the "INOX" mean?

ANY help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Hey Tom, how about some great reflections of you or Ralphie in the spoons?

Hey Bill!

If ya look real close, you can just make out Ralphie's liddle BUTT as I balance the camera on his back for a steady shot -- He's my loving living tripod!

Tom,
I BELIEVE Inox is an alloy.

I think "INOX" is another term for Stainless Steel.

"What is Stainless Steel?

The material we know as stainless steel (also commonly referred to as "Inox" or "Rostfrei" ...." (forgot where I got it from but Googled "What is INOX?"

Neglus:

THANKS!

But, I'm even more confused now!

I had to polish off the TARNISH from all 5 spoons...Can SS be tarnished?

Oi! Ralphie says he's getting a headache!

OK, I took the time to Google "what is inox".
To quote the site: Start with Inox, which is medical stainless steel, quite hard, but magnetic and can stain.

Any ideas anybody, as to why my "INOX" (stainless steel) is tarnished?

THANKS!

Yes, if it is silver plated. Polishing can remove the tarnish as well as the silver plating (not a good thing). A better way to go is windex with ammonia. Swish it around in a dish till the tarnish disappears although many people prefer the patina of age on it.

Not sure about the Inox aspect - but I've sold some Wolff pieces before, I believe they were from Brazil or Portugal and were from the early 20th Century.
