I was just reading that apparently EBay cannot demand PayPal only on listings in Australia!

Looks like they may have lost this round.

Yes. It's early days, though, and more review will be done.

It's hard to imagine anyone OTHER than eBay being in favor of a PayPal-only requirement. It benefits no one else. The ACCC noted that there are some incidental advantages to a PayPal-only environment but those advantages are outweighed by the anti-competitive effect.

PeSA (Professional eBay Sellers Association) submitted arguments for consideration, as well as about 650 individual eBay users, competitors of eBay, financial institutions, etc.

Keep in mind that in Australia PayPal is nowhere near a widely accepted payment solution as it is in the U.S. Many Aussie sellers handle a good portion of their payments in bank transfers or other instruments.
