Just tried to launch an auction...it was returned by eBay with an error message 240: The title or description may contain improper words or the seller is in violation of eBay policy". The title was "Vintage Antique Ball and Claw Piano Stool". No where in the auction did I claim it was made by any particular maker...I can't figure out what might be improper and I certainly don't know what policy I might be violating...Can anyone give me some clues?

Try putting in Vintage Antique Piano Stool. Then after you launch it go in and change the heading to what you want.

Tried that...Part of the error message is that the listing can't be listed or modified...so, after I changed it and tried to relaunch, got the same error message. Maybe I'll just have to start all over...but wish there was some way to find out from eBay exactly what was wrong...

I suspect that the problem word is Claw. so far as i know you cannot sell anything that is a genuine claw on ebay.

Thanks for the thoughts/suggestions. All attempts to revise/edit failed so just did a completely new listing omitting any reference to "claw". In the description, I said that the brass fittings resembled a bird's foot. Hope that passes eBay police.

Agate: If we put the word back in after it's launched, how does that work for us? Does eBay not look at launched auctions? (Well, I suppose they're all busy with their "Change the Rules of eBay" games, in their little cubicles.)

I have seen it done and it actually worked. not saying it will this time. just thought it was worth a try. So far as i know the only time ebay will look at it is someone makes a complaint. I don't believe your doing anything wrong.

Once I listed a real Eagle Claw decorated with turquoise dust and Ebay removed it.
I think if you add the word 'claw' to a listing already launched and someone complain ,Ebay will look at it first before removing,so yours should be okay.
