MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A 19-year-old Minneapolis man is charged with a felony for offering to sell his vote in the presidential election on eBay.
The Hennepin County attorney's office charged Max P. Sanders on Thursday. Sanders was not immediately arrested. A telephone number for him was not available.
The criminal complaint says the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office learned about the offering on the Web auction site and told prosecutors.
The posting by "zepdrummer612" said he was 19 and couldn't decide who to vote for the presidential election. He offered to let the highest bidder decide for him.
Investigators sent a subpoena to eBay and got information that led them to Sanders.
An investigator called Sanders on June 18th, and Sanders confirmed that he was behind the posting, but said it was a joke.
It's unclear if Sanders accepted any money for his vote.
