Had a buyer for a gold wedding band...her hubby was buying it for her as a replacement. After numerous e-mails and promises to pay...no pay! I'm resisting the strong temptation to e-mail with such thoughts as "May your husband have an affair and dump you" and "Bottom-feeder scum" and a few other thoughts. Won't do it though and have filed (and received) FVC. Feels better to rant though...Which bring to mind an eBay truism: The more e-mails a seller receives with promises to pay, the less the likelihood the buyer will actually pay.

I've noticed that. I've also noticed that if you get an Ask Seller a Question, the odds are against that person actually buying anything from you.

You're right, Cheryl. I think I've only had one or two "askers" actually buy...or even bid. I've always thought that was a bit strange.

Regarding askers:

I get either

1) the kind who have endless questions but never buy, or

2) the kind who keeps peppering me with email but too impatient to wait for a response, buys. And keeps buying. They come across as a little nutty and sometimes a bit obsessed, but hey, their money is as green as anyone's.

It looked like she had that dreaded neurological disorder that lets you browse and bid on eBay all day long but won't let you push the "Pay" button.

My "askers" turn out to be buyers about 75% of the time. The ones that don't - always seem to want to request extra photos or special questions that require extra work on my part. I think they do it just to piss me off.

There is a large group of Ebayers in every category, that just go through listings to review for misinformation, missing details, measurements, etc. They then use the ask seller to send you a message IN ALL CAPS REGARDING YOUR LISTING - Many times it is a standard cut and paste they are sending like:

"DEAR SELLER - JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THE ITEM YOU HAVE LISTED AS MADE BY LIMOGES CANNOT BE MADE BY LIMOGES BECAUSE LIMOGES IS AN AREA IN FRANCE, NOT A COMPANY"
