I haven't really been paying much attention to my "Seller Dashboard" lately. Haven't been that bored.

I have always had RAISED search and 15%-20% discount. Today I looked at my DASHBOARD (what idiot dreamed up that name) and I have been LOWERED!!. Not standard, but LOWERED. My shipping ****s went from 4.94 to 4.53. Who knows why.

The blurb explaining all of this says that the DASHBOARD is updated daily. Does that mean that my search standing will be changed daily?? What constitutes STANDARD??

I am not wasting any sleep over this as I just don't give a rat's butt about the DASHBOARD and my elevated or demoted level, but what a crock. There is no transparency and EBAY has the nerve to give me a link to a tutorial about how to improve my "selling practices." How can I fix something when I don't know who is dissatisfied. I have 100% FB now due to Ebay's new math, so what's to fix!?!

It happened to me too last month - I think for the standard rating you need 4.6 or better in the shipping costs. It didn't affect my sales too much - but it's still a slap in the face. To make matters worse, the two people that slammed my stars were international buyers and I shipped at cost for one and supplemented the other with my own money. I'm cutting way back on international sales because of it - not worth the hassle.

Merrie , sorry to hear that.
I think anyone paying to list on eBay should have their item in equal search as to all others. JMO NOT a Divine Revelation

merrie - just a thought...are you on the first of the month billing cycle? If so, they are calculating discounts now. Amazing how the DSR's dip right at the time of discount calculation isn't it.

Some kind of transparency is required here where money and search standing are involved. If they can't be transparent, then they damn well should be audited regularly! I don't trust "ebay math" at all.

deur: thanks for the condolences. I agree that all should be equal when paying fees, but in Ebay's rhealm, they call the shots, strange as they may be.

neglus: My billing date IS approaching. Lately the date they "picked" for calculating discounts has varied so much there is no telling when it might be. One month it was 20,then 23, the next 31. That really doesn't matter much to me this month because I have sold so little the discount would not be noticeable. Also, when you get few FBs in any given month due to slow sales, etc, one bad ding can spell doom to your ****s.

My drop in status has not really changed my results in search since there are not that many sellers currently selling the same items I am. It just annoys me that they can base so much on a system that is so flawed.

What get's me is I was an elevated in search status just two weeks ago. And all of a sudden, I was downgraded to standard, and that's with my stars actually going up!

What happened is the ebay average also went up so it now excludes me. The worst part. I am nearly a half of a percentage point higher in all aspects accept for shipping cost. I lose out on the shipping cost. What are my numbers you ask?

My average is 4.58
Ebay average is 4.59.

What a crock. I lose out because ebay has no clue by 100th of a percent. But yet, when a buyer see's the percentage, both will show at 4.6%. This sliding scale ebay has is a joke. My customer service has always been top notch and now that others have improved as well as myself, I get penalized.

Man am I glad I have been working to get ebay out of my business plan.

Sorry Merrie - we have all been there.

I still don't get this - I am currently raised but I did a search for a item that I have currently listed of which there are only 15 or so on ebay. Since I'm raised (today) I would have hoped to be in the top 5 or 6 on the search page. I was dead bottom and every seller I checked had lower DSR's than I do. How does that make sense?

ladyjewels: None of this cr*p makes sense.

Today I am STANDARD, whatever the heck that means.

I think these geniuses need to justify their salaries and titles by dreaming up confusing rules and policies.

Leave stuff alone!!

I am bumped down to standard also, although my stars average is around 4.8. Go figure.

I've called Ebay before and asked for an explanation as to what caused my rating to drop - and they couldn't tell me! They went through a few scenarios that would have caused it, but none of them fit - so they had no clue. Eventually they said maybe it's a technical glitch and they would pass the info along.

I think it may have something to do with customers who may have given you a 1 or 2 star rating. I know my buyer satisfaction dropped one time when I had two customers who gave me low ratings.

My items are "raised" and have been for some time, and it has had no effect on sales that I can determine.

Free shipping is going to show up first it seems no matter what. I have a few things that are free ship and in any best match scenario of all my items they come up first.

My search standing go up and down each month.

It goes down the last 10 days of the month. Also my sales usually increase then.

It is just a big mess that they use against us for their own purposes!

I have been raised to STANDARD. I am trilled to death (joke, joke). I am waiting to see what day Ebay picked to determine my discount.

"eBay uses the criteria below to determine the discount on your next invoice. eBay determines your discount level between the 23rd and 27th of each month before sending your invoice. Click the drop-down menu to view requirements for each available discount tier."

Today is the 27th and I qualify for 15%, on 8/25, I didn't. Want to take a guess as to what day they will pick??

What kind of silly system is this that a company gets multiple choice on their policies. Just ridiculous.

LOWERED again, and more sales than in the past month. Boy, that is really some thing to worry about!!

All glowing feedback, but no accountability when it comes to stars.
