I use Vendio only for the gallery and for photo hosting and pay $19.95/month. For the past year or so, I was paying an additional $3 for gallery, not knowing that it was now free, which really makes me mad.

Why would anyone pay for Vendio when they can use the gallery and hosting at Auctiva for free? Is there something that I am missing here?

Not being sarcastic, just wondering if there is a difference in quality or being dependable, etc that I am not aware of.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello,

looks like their site is loading ok again now.
their site now references an upgrade that caused the site to be offline from 9-10 this morning, nothing unusual (other than the time of day they chose to do it.)

Regards,
Chris

Auctiva tried it years ago didn't like it,I would rather pay VD.

Chris for months at a time we hear nothing from VD CS, now you are here almost daily. Are things a bit slow at the home office?
I like that you are here responding to our VD & eBay concerns.

The new eBay is likely to shut many of us small guys down, I for one will have very positive memories of my time with Auctionwatch & Vendio, and of course the old eBay.

Caroline,

It's been a while since I was directly involved in it, but at the time, I felt that the management of preparing listings, scheduling start times, keeping track of which items were paid/shipped/fb'ed and so on were easily worth the price paid monthly. Photo hosting was the gravy. It was, as the saying goes, a no-brainer for us, but YMMV.

The one thing that I wanted for ages, but never got, was a way to slip a "tag" into an auction that could be downloaded into Excel. I needed an ability to map auction number to consignor. Asked for umpty-ump years; never got it, but perhaps I was the only one asking. Shame too, because it would have saved 3-4 hours per week of manual entry.

Thanks, Cash. I just don't use all the Vendio tools, most of that I do in Ebay's Selling Manager - the payments, shipping, etc. and I've really liked it so far, and it's free with the Store.

I had tried listing in Vendio when i first signed up, but found it to be more work for me then just using Ebay.

alldings - with all of the eBay related questions in this forum and many of them related to Vendio tools, we felt it was time to check in here in addition to the Vendio services forum.

Many newer users won't realize right away that we only monitor (officially) the services forums and come looking here for help. I try to jump in as much as I can, especially when eBay is in the middle of all these crazy changes and users need a little more assistance than usual.

Chris

1. auctiva is slower
2. auctiva is not as smooth as vendio with far more glitches
3. free is not always better

and yes i have tried it......

I did not like it as much as Vendio. It may have improved.

I do think VD should have notified everyone when gallery went free. It is chump change and makes them look bad that they stiffed a bunch of folks for $3 bucks/month.

No goodwill there!

I think Stonecold uses auctiva so she might have some good input.

Hello Beth,

Note that not all versions/options of the gallery are now free, but there is now a free version of our scrolling gallery that users can select.

Vendio is wonderful. The CS is the best!
It is hard at times when trying to correct problems "instantly". However I do feel Vendio understands that many of us are not in for a hobby. We are in it to make money, it is our income.
And they act like they care .... they may not care, but I feel like they do.
I have been in business most of my adult life and have dealt with all kind of CS -the good, the bad , the ug-a-ly and even the detestable. I would say Vendio is waaaaaay above good- it is the best.

I have to agree that Nathan, Chris, Diana et al are very responsive and put up with a lot from us.

I remember when we had what seemed like one very harried CS rep and I accused him of being the zerox repairman just passing time at the vendio offices.

Ha...good times.

I host my own pics ($3.99/mo), use Turbo Lister (Free) and eBay's Selling Manager (also free for a PS or store owner). My total cost is $3.99 per month. My hosting site has never gone down that I've noticed (GoDaddy) and whenever I've had any problems (caused by me), they've been very quick to help me.

I so agree... Vendio CS is by far and away the very best of all the companies I deal with online and bricks and mortar.Every single time I have needed help not only have they been Johnny on the spot, but kind and respectful. I must say that not only do they explain in launguage I can understand but have made very useful suggestions that have saved me HUGE amounts of time.

There's one thing I really would like to have. A list of all the eBay options (shipping, etc.) that we MUST check/specify for our listing to launch. I'm getting more confused, not less, as time goes by. Real concern, or senior moments???

Real concern, or senior moments???

Does the fact that I had to copy and paste your question so I could remember it, tell you were I'm at!!

Chris - quick! Time to ask the boss for a raise! As it turns out, it is the Customer Service (and specifically, the people Vendio has in CS like Chris and Nathan)that compels people to stay. I think that's a unique concept these days. Your efforts are appreciated!

I can state with confidence that Auctiva is a wonderful site. I have yet to have a glitch in their system. I agree that uploading items is a bit slow. But once in, it is as good as gold. Image hosting it top notch. Scheduling is a snap and the after auction e-mail is great. I can auto send a buyer a notice as soon as the listing ends telling them all of the payment options that I offer, including cash, checks, money orders and google checkout.

Ebay can't control that and I love Auctiva for it.

No knocking Vendio as I am sure it's a wonderful site to use as well, but to get a service like Auctiva is providing for free. It's hard to beat.

Thanks for the input - my issue with Vendio customer service is that there is no way to call them unless we pay extra for it - which ticks me off - but that may be case for Auctiva as well, I haven't looked in to it that far yet.

Thanks so much!

As SKIN-FLINT Ralphie opines:

"Ye gets what ya pays for!"

We've used AUCTIVA'S Gallery for 2 years and, rarely, it has gone down for 1 or 2 hours, once or twice per year...

CS has been quick to respond...

I've yet to take the ultimate plunge off the clift & trusted them for IMAGE HOSTING, but, that's mainly because I've found CHEAP image hosting ($9.99) elsewhere that has been EXTREMELY RELIABLE...

OTOH, that's the absolute I would ever pay for hosting, plus, with an eBay STORE, one gets a rather nice PSM system from eBay...

FWIW...

mcJ - I think they used? to get referral $ if someone went to an item through their gallery and made a purchase. I think Vendio must get the same deal. I thought I read that the financial incentives have been cut or eliminated. Fluffy tried something like that on her website. I think at one time this was quite lucrative.

Thanks neglus. Looks like the day might be coming where they may start to charge for service.

Remember the days of the free ISP's. All gone now.

If they do. I still have my e-mail.

Although, it might be a mute point for me in the near future. The website is doing better than ever and ebay could be the odd man out in the not too distant future.
