I just tried to re-list an item I first listed several months ago. I got an error message from eBay saying the item was no longer in eBay's database. I'm not especially clever with computers but is there a way I can re-list this without completely rewriting the listing? Thanks for any help.

Hmmm. I've done that with no problems.

How did you do it, roadsmith? I just tried again and got the same error message.

I've gotten that too from time to time, must be a 30 or 60 day time limit for viable relisting, something like that. As I recall, even a saved copy of a once listed auction can get too old for listing.
I just cut and paste the old text into a more recently copied auction (all of my auctions are basically copies) - you won't get any relist credit of course, but saves the typing effort.

If you have the item #, you should be able to pull it up for at least 90 days after it ended.
I have had some luck going even farther back at times, but 90 days is generally the rule.

Just did an experiment and pulled up an auction of mine that ended 97 days ago.

Thanks all...I think I've gone over the 90 day limit. So...will see what I can do. Appreciate the help.

You used to be able to pull items up that were a lot older than 90 days but it seems that they are wiped out very soon after the 90th day lately.

I've just contacted eBay and thrown myself on their tender mercies and asked it they could restore the item. If they can't, I'll just have to redo the description or try the cut and paste method.

Cutting and pasting works rather smoothly, and I'm assuming you still have the photos. It's a little nuisance, but it's doable. The two I relisted recently were close to 90 days old. Good luck!

If it's in Vendio under pending and you can see all the information, then you can just copy it and list the new (copied) item.
Edited to add:
There is a copy button near the top of the listing in Vendio.

Actually if you use Vendio, it is not lost at all. You can go to your "Post Sale" -> Unsold and do a title search. You can relist through there - if the item is not in the EBay database, a copy will launch - a red notice will appear stating that the item is not eligible for relist and a copy will list. You will have to edit the copy to make sure that recent changes (ie shipping and return policy) are properly shown because the copy will be a copy of your OLD template.

You're welcome. I didn't know you used Vendio or I would have suggested that at the start. Works also if (god forbid) ebay pulls your listings.

I got that message when I tried to relist items through Vendio that had been yanked by eBay (for word CASH).

OH yeah - that reminds me. In the case of pulled items, you HAVE to pend and then copy in order to relist (can't try to launch relists of pulled items).
