so I was deleting my spam email out of the junk email box and even though I never open them to read them or anything....some dimwit actually requested a *read receipt* and Outlook wanted to know if I wanted to send him one. Well no - I don't think so.

Aw c'mon, how can you be so heartless. That guy is waiting in front of his computer, waiting, waiting, longing to know if you've read his email.

yeah I googled it and found out that this is a new (MOL) thing going around for some reason. They suggested disabling that function for now - "Never send Read Receipt". It only triggers when you have the preview pane enabled - which I do, so I don't have to open the email to read it.
Just an additional note to say that a friend of mine has contacted me tonight
to say that they have received forty of these receipt-attached e-mails during the past 48 hours. It does seem that some sort of attack is now in progress."
