As the October 5th deadline looms upon us, I still have many more listings to remove payment options from my description and listing page.
I know that some of you used TL to edited your listings. I had tried in the past when we had to remove the word cash from our pages without success using TL. Now with tomorrow upon us, I emailed ebay to receive an unsatisfactory answer(should I expect anything less from them). Apparently, all listing will be shut down upon their time factor which is what I can not find anywhere nor did they indicate what is the magic hour.

Does anyone know the time that this suppose change over will be???

What is Ebay's current phone number where I can speak to a human not through their live help?

thank you,
very frustrated
Mama
PS I can not connect to Live Help. My computer gave me some HTML code in the box

You have some time.

"Q: I have revised 1300+ items to show that I take Paypal only on the payment details area. I use Auctiva and in my listings (item descriptions) mention that I take paypal, check and money orders. Since I have it clearly marked in the payment details that paypal is what I take, do I have to revise/edit 1300 items (one by one) to take the check, money order reference out of the item descriptions?

A: Check and money order acceptance in your item description should be removed by JANUARY 15, 2009."

Mammachia, TL does work but it is very glitchy. I couldn't use it with Vista which aborted the program when I tried to synch. TL is labeled an unresponsive program in XP and appears to just hang there when it is really working. It took me several tries and six hours for the last synch but it finally worked.

Because of help from Neglus, I got TL to work. I edited about 20 at a time and then did the synch. I couldn't find a way to remove the words "check and money order" from the description, so when I had edited the payment instructions and added return policy through TL, I went back through each one and deleted the words. It was long, but quicker than changing all 3 things each time.

Thank you Zippy, Pixiamom & Amber for the info.
I have tried TL in the past but was not successful because of the info needed to removed from the description as well as the page. TL will only work on the listing page were you can click to remove from Ebay's form. BUT if you also add necessary information in the description(as we all know buyers do not READ anything), TL is useless. Mind you, I have been manually editing for close to a week now where I took care of my 2 clients and working a little on my own name at the same time. but I was concerned with what Ebay would do if you didn't meet their deadline. Which by the way if October 5th for somethings, at the end of October for others.

here is their response to my question(this took 48 hours for a response)

Dear Rosanne,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the new shipping policy.

I understand that you are trying to update your listings to accommodate the new shipping policy. Unfortunately listings that have not been updated with shipping policy or even their payment to except Paypal or another Credit card processing those items will be removed off of eBay.

I know that you are trying to use Turbo Lister and that has caused some trouble for you. Have you tried contacting our support team for Turbo Lister? Or if you are comfortable with CSV files I would recommend using file exchange.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and wish you luck with
your future eBay transactions.

Sincerely,
McKaylee

You can do a search and replace to eliminate verbage in the description with TL (in bulk). I did it.

Hi Mamachia,

This might be helpful for you. I found an eBay FAQ on the payment method changes. It states:

"What is the deadline for removing references to prohibited payment methods from my templates and item descriptions?

We encourage you to remove any references as you update your listings and listing templates between now and October 2008. We know that this is a busy time of year for sellers, so we will wait until January 15, 2009 before we begin insisting on the removal of prohibited payment methods from item descriptions."

I found that on an eBay FAQ that is located at the bottom of this eBay announcement:

http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/Payments/

For the shipping policy changes, I believe eBay has already started enforcing that one (removing listings that do not comply). If you are trying to prioritize changes, I would recommend working on the shipping first.

Regards,
Nathan

I revised 8500 listings through TL - took "checks" and "money orders" out of the body of the description using TL "search and replace" function; changed payment instructions to take out checks and money orders; changed the acceptable payments for the ebay portion (at the bottom of the listing); added return policy and handling time while I was at it.

It can be frustrating but it took me a nano-fraction of the time it would take to revise items one by one. The first thing you might have to do is to uninstall TL and reinstall it, then you have to synch. As I said in another thread, TL uses a lot of system resources. I did it when I didn't need to be doing anything on computer - overnight one time and while I was shipping another time.

It does work and it's worth your time to figure it out. No seller should have to spend all that time revising listings one by one at this busy time of year. Ebay isn't kidding about ending listings in January! (and those count as "violations" and work against your search profile).

I just read a thread on the PS Board - there are 3rd party developers coming up with search and replace revisers now.

One is from a Vendio Competitor (ryhmes with Pink Log) - they have a 30 day free trial.

So, if you can't get TL to work, there are other options.

**there is a reviser available through a German company but it doesn't Search and Replace or add return policy.
