I just purchased some replacement batteries for cordless phones and got a check-box to donate $1 for domestic abuse program. Is this a new program? I didn't see a checkout option in the Giving Works section.

I've seen it during checkout several times lately as a buyer. Guess there are not enough of us using the "Donate Now" from our PayPal account so eBay is trying to nag the buyers into participating.

One of the reasons I was happy to quit the full-time workforce was the incessant whining and bullying of companies about donating part of my check to charities of their choice.
I was pretty direct with each new employer: My charitable contributions are my own business, I don't divulge that information, and I never, ever donate at the office so don't even ask.
Of course these days you are importuned everywhere you go: grocery stores, department stores, on the sidewalks and now during eBay checkout. It's disgraceful.
The checkout begging is part of an initiative of the Omidyar Foundation. One thing I love about billionaires: They're always so happy to tell us how we should spend our cash. "It's only a dollar", you know.

So this isn't seller generated or selected? Just shows up like links to other peoples' items on OUR listings?
