I don't sell too much these days on Ebay. But recently, just in the last few days, I've had 7 questions from buyers on the 10 items I'm running(all between $10-100). Only 1 question was about the item. The other 6 questions were all the exact same thing, same wording and all.
.
.
"do you accept money order"
.
.
What's going on here. I suspect some new? method of harvesting e-mail addresses perhaps?

Provided you reply while your listings are running they won't get your email address, but rather a psuedo-anonymous one. As to whether so many people want to pay by Money Order (using the exact same wording) it's probably a scam. It doesn't harm you to reply that you do accept.

Agitprop....I believe that what you write is true.....but don't you need to respond through Ebay, and make sure to check off the box that says, "do not reveal my e-mail address" for your e-mail address to remain private?
.
.
Normally, I prefer to respond outside of Ebay, and get communication going directly person to person, away from the Ebay mail system...like the good old days. But not if I think somebody's on a phishing expedition.

More than likely, it's not a scam. With eBay's new policy about not allowing you to post that you take them, customers are forced into asking sellers if they accept them. Many buyers will not use PayPal because at how unsafe PayPal is for all involved. I would respond by clicking the reply button on your e-mail only. Then if you get a real e-mail address, respond. If you get the stupid use the yellow button in the address box, click the back arrow and then delete.

Scammers like to prey on certain sellers who have merchandise like gold ,antique or expensive watches and electronics as they can quickly turn them into cash.
They have access to fake money orders and postal orders.
Some bidders are on Paypal blacklist as they have debit balance with Paypal so they have to use money order or postal orders.
Paypal is not safe is often used as an excuse!

That's true hwahwa, about scammers targeting certain sellers. I know, I've sold those items in the past. But, here, it's not the case. I did state in my OP that these were all $10-100 items.
