I had something flash on my screen about ebays support of 3rd party checkout ending. I clicked past the page before I got even the date. So what does that mean for those of us that use vendio checkout. What changes can we expect and what should we do on our end?

I think it means it can't be used any more, have to use eBay checkout, but someone will be along soon with the right information.

Hello,

Mid June is eBay's target date for removing the few remaining third party checkout's still available. With the changes eBay had everyone make last year to re-brand checkout redirect to look like eBay and the other changes they are putting into place currently, there shouldn't be any noticeable differences once the switch is made.

Chris

If you use eBay's invoicing and checkout system it doesn't affect you.

Basically, eBay has been working very hard to increase their features to justify their fees while preventing you from using services once provided by Vendio and other 3rd party providers.

eBay has questionably overreached their boundaries in protectionism. First it was limiting sellers from creating their own terms, banning sellers from protecting their business against fraudulent buyers, etc. Now eBay is working to ban several features that other companies provided and used to justify charging fees fees for since eBay didn't provide those services.

Hello,

The main things that you used to 'get away with' by using a third party checkout were eliminated years ago. The only remaining things you could do was offer alternative payment and shipping options, both of which eBay has worked to enable from their side as well now. Between FedEx and Authorize.net support going live at eBay, the benefits are now relatively low and by the time the switch happens, most buyers/sellers won't even see a difference in their current processes. The only change is the location of where checkout takes place, but the rest of the steps in managing post sale data are still available in most management tools (if the eBay management tools you use currently support additional post sale functions.)

Regards,
Chris
