What is wrong with eBay buyers today? Three sales, two remain unpaid. This has been an ongoing problem since the first of the year. All have a low feedback - never respond to messages, and only pay at the last possible moment.

Slow pay, or no pay is a problem that I have encountered on both eBay and BidStart. Never have that problem on our own site.

Are you having a similar problem?

Yes. It is a growing problem.

I wish eBay would go to a system of auto charging credit cards once the listing has ended. This can be easily done for both auctions and fixed price.

If a bidder places a proxy bid, they simply are authorizing payment be deducted from their payment source up to the amount of their high bid if they are the winner.

Fixed Price should be handled the same as any other checkout system. If the buyer chooses to buy it now, then they are taken through checkout and payment is processed immediately. If they don't pay, the item is automatically put back up for sale.

Very simple... but eBay always cries about logistics. If they have the system to create DSRs, feedback, manage auctions, etc. they can very easily fix this problem.

But how about bidders(buyers) waiting for other items to end, combined paypal payments will save the seller on additional fees.

I have resend the ebay invoice after 2 days and received payment immediately after the 2nd invoice.

I do what "aprins" does--after two or three days with no response, I resend the invoice. That works. I think sometimes the buyer hasn't seen the first invoice (for some reason or other).

I'm not sure about you, as there are better ways to use your time than resending invoices for unpaid items. I don't fool around with resending invoices, or filing unpaid item claims.

I activated eBay's Unpaid Item Assistant. At least their system can remind buyers that the buyers have unpaid invoices. Let the notices come from eBay. After all, they want the buyer to believe that the item was purchased from eBay. Let eBay take the heat. Cases open 4 days after item is sold.

I can remember when buyers would email me when they wanted to make further purchases. Of course, that was when buyers had some respect for a seller.

Now, they ignore our messages - and shoot down our DSRs when we try to get payment for our sold items.

Where else can someone buy an item and not pay for the item for days? And, ignore repeated requests from the seller, to indicate when they might pay for their purchase.

Now, I can understand that an auction payment might be delayed so as to include another auction item that the buyer has bid on, or will bid on. However, as a courtesy, the buyer should send a message to the seller indicating the buyer's intentions. Contrary to common belief, an eBay seller does not have the ability to read a buyer's mind.

Now, many sellers only list items with BIN. Payment should be rendered at time of purchase, or when the invoice is sent from eBay - not when it is convenient; days later.

What are your thoughts?

I've had 3 newbie non- paying bidders with (0) feedback in the last month. This is new for me, since I've been on for 11 years and only had 2 non- paying bidders, until now. Ebay has to start charging them an automatic fee. It's ridiculous.

I understand multiple orders, and I suppose it depends on what you offer. I see multiple orders only for 1 thing I sell. 99.9% are single item purchases and I don't offer combined shipping on most items because it is hard to box a lamp along with a clock (as an example). Obviously, this may not be the case for other sellers for things like postcards, books, magazines, music, dvds, etc.

And since I offer free shipping with everything, I don't see any benefits to waiting for payment other than it slows me down. I prefer shipping twice a week, but sometimes when payments trickle in, it is an every other day occurrence.

What really bugs me most is that I cannot plan on shipping days. It seems that most people who pay several days after a listing closes are the first to email me wanting to know where their item is... and my favorite are those who wait a week to make payment. Forget the fact that the week they bought it I was in town, but when they get around to paying for it I go out of town for a few days.

I remember the good old days. If someone waited a week to pay me - I waited a week to ship. If they asked me if I had shipped before I had, my standard reply was "Oh are you in a hurry for it - I didn't realize as you waited a week to pay??
Can't do that now.
