This little vial-type item belonged to the grandmother of a friend of mine. It is a matte-collored metal encased blue glass thingie. Obviously, at one time, it had a screw-on top. I haven't a clue what it is...any ideas? Also, would appreciate opinions as whether or not it's worth listing. Thanks...

I have a salt and pepper set--cranberry glass encased in silver (removable silver casing). Your pix remind me of my set. Very old. Belonged to grandparents married in 1907.

Thanks all...I didn't even think of a salt shaker...I guess because of the ornate design, I was thinking more of a vanity item. However, now that you've all said salt shaker, it's so obvious I feel pretty stupid!

Thanks, Bill. I think it's too small to be a votive...it's 2 1/2 inches tall and has a diameter of only 1 1/4 inches. I think the obvious screw threads at the top is a giveaway for a shaker. Apperciate the thoughts...
