I apologize if this has been answered already, but I'm confused with the new fees including shipping. I frequently sell internationally. International shipping is very expensive, because I only ship Priority International or Express International. Often international shipping is more expensive than the item. Please explain how the new fees will affect me? It sounds like ebay is discouraging international. Thanks in advance for any assistance. I've been selling since 1998 & this fee structure sounds like a killer.

If you are in the USA, it means that you will now be charged FVFs on your International shipments.

If you charge $35 for shipping, eBay will charge you 8-11% on what you make from shipping, depending on the item. Basically, eBay will tack on a maximum of $4 to your fees at that rate.

"If you are in the USA, it means that you will now be charged FVFs on your International shipments."

No, that is incorrect. The Shipping FVF will be charged on the cost of the item's lowest listed domestic shipping.

If you have domestic shipping at let's imagine -

Domestic
1st Class - $3.00
Priority Mail - $5.95
Express Mail - 19.20

International
1st Class International - $8.00
Priority Mail International - $37.00
Express Mail International - $38.00

The additional Shipping FVF to you the seller is $3.00 x 11%. The additional fee is based upon the lowest domestic shipping service listed - even if the item is shipped Priority Mail International.

So,if you offer free domestic shipping, then your intl shipping is free of Ebay FVF fee??
I ship my overseas packages via USPS first class mail,I dont know if they will still buy from me if I charge priority or express mail on low price items ?Better to use the extra $$ to take out insurance

So, I am in US. For international, I only ship Priority International & Express International & most items are 2-5 pounds or more. So, if I'm going to pay FVF on shipping, I guess I'll have to stop offering International. This is outrageous! Ebay is again sticking it to sellers. But instead of advertising that our selling rates are increased, they are "hidden" increases. GRRRRR!

No, local.

Try this example.
: You have calculated shipping for both Domestic and International shipping and you live in New York.

Say it costs $5. to send your package to New York, $10 to send your package to California, and $38 to send your package to France.

Your FVF will be based on a $5 shipping cost if you send your package to New York or to California or to France.

FVF is based on Domestic shipping to your locale no matter to where you ship.

So ebay will go back and pick up the sellers lowest shipping and add it to the final price or the BIN figure? Doesn't sound like ebay.
I guess I need to go back and read the notice again.

For domestic shipments, the final value fee will be calculated on whatever the buyer pays, i.e. the price of the item plus shipping, however much that is. For one day and international shipping, the final value fee will be based on the price of the item plus the lowest domestic shipping option.

So if it costs $5 to ship to NY, $10 to ship to California, and $38 to ship to France, the FVF for your California buyer will be based on the $10 shipping fee. On your sale to the French buyer, the FVF will be based on the $5 shipping fee.

Leave it to eBay to make things difficult!

Here is an excerpt that addresses the issue from the FAQ's associated with eBay's most recent announcement:

How will the Final Value Fees on total amount of the sale work?

You’ll see the Final Value Fee charge based on the item price at the time of sale. The Final Value Fee for the shipping costs portion, and any other costs to buyer (less sales tax), will be charged based on what was paid by the buyer at checkout—except for One-day and International shipping services.

Are Final Value Fees charged on One-day and International services?
Final Values Fees will be calculated on the shipping service paid by the buyer unless the buyer pays for a One-day or International shipping option. If a One-day service or International option is selected, the first domestic shipping service offered other than One-day will be used to calculate Final Value Fees. If there are no other domestic shipping services offered, fees will be calculated on One-day service or International service.

to be fair to eBay... my FVF is going down by 1%, and since i already offer free shipping within the usa, the new rate doesn't affect me except going down 1%.

hwa- can you send international first class with delivery confirmation? can you print international first class through Paypal? I know you cannot print 1st class international through click n ship.

Thanks to all for clarifying the fees. When most of the items you sell weigh over 3 or 4 pounds, it is going to be a challenge!

Yes,you can print intl first class labels thru Paypal?
But there is no DC with intl first class USPS shipments?
What I do is to buy insurance with U-PIC if it is a high price item, else I just dont bother.
Intl buyers haven been behaving well these days,it must be their strong currencies vis a vis our greenback!
BTW,
sometimes I will slap the green customs form on my first class overseas packages, they are either not trackable, half trackable and once shockingly,it tracked all the way to China.
I want them to think it is trackable so they dont try to scam me !

If there are no other domestic shipping services offered, fees will be calculated on One-day service or International service.

////////////
So if I offer free domestic first class/parcel post shipping, then my FVF on intl shipping is zero??yes or no?

Shipping FVFs - The Shipping FVF will be charged on the cost of the item's lowest listed domestic shipping - that's all you need to know. Free Domestic Shipping - no Shipping FVF!

List First Class, Priority Mail, Express Mail - customer chooses First Class - the item's First Class Shipping FVF is used. Customer chooses Express Mail - the item's First Class Shipping FVF is used to calculate.

List the same item with both Domestic and International shipping options - the item's DOMESTIC First Class Shipping FVF is used to calculate.

First Class Mail International - purchase at eBay or print shipping label at Shipping Assistant. Cannot purchase from PayPal or Click N Ship.

Well I learned something new today. I can print 1st class international from My Ebay.
I don't sell that much international but this is good to know.
Do you still have to take it to the post office?

SORRY,Bill is right, you have to use Ebay to print intl first class label, not Paypal.
Yahoo shopping bases its FVF on the order amount (shipping, item and giftwrapping ),but the FVF is so small,no one really cares!

Yes, leave it to eBay to make it complicated.
Thanks, jemsgifts, for clarifying what I thought was a simple equation.

Regarding "Free" shipping: Most of my items are over a few pounds to ship and being on the east coast, it is difficult to absorb (and to justify the additional price tag) for all 8 zones. But I have been playing with including shipping for the few small items that will pack up under one pound.
Then I realized: if the item is returned, instead of refunding the item cost
minus the non-refundable shipping, I am stuck for the shipping.
