I don't know if you still check in here but thought I would give it a shot. We are trying to buy a condo in Riverside County. It's a "short sale" and we are SO close to closing and now there are problems! I thought I remembered that you were a realtor in an earlier life ...this whole short sale thing has been an eye opening experience and I will NEVER EVER do this again!! Ditto to alldings. And I've never been a realtor, Mary Ann. You must have me confused with someone else.
I feel sorry for you with the short-sale business. My impression from House Hunters etc. on TV is that the main problem can be the long wait while the bank (the true owner) decides whether to take your bid.
Do get a lawyer. And let us know how it all works out (or not). Adele
