A few weeks ago, I was looking for some software on eBay and, when I found none, I checked closed listings. I wrote one seller to see if he had more and he said he couldn't list them because eBay had shut him down for 30 days for listing too many of the same items... as a new seller. (I think his feedback was like 22.) This was new to me.

Tonight, I had two relists (also for software) scheduled via Vendio and noticed a couple of hour later that they hadn't gone through. The reason given was, in part:

"You've reached the 30-day selling limit for the type of item you're trying to list. This isn't a reflection on your account or selling activity. These limits apply to all accounts. But it does mean you won't be able to complete this listing right now. (You can still list other kinds of items, though.)

Items that are subject to selling limits can change, so we can't be specific about which listings fall under these protective limits.

Long-time sellers with proven track records and other positive account attributes may be eligible for higher selling limits. If you believe that you would qualify, please review our selling limits page for more information."

I followed several links and did a search for the topic in eBay customer support. I found a page to request an increase in my limit and the heard said something about this feature not being widely deployed yet... even though all the pages I'd read previously mentioned the ability to request an increase.

As for 'long-time' and 'proven track records' - I think I've been on eBay since 1999 and am at feedback of 850+. Maybe I'm *still* too new

In any event, I just wondered if anyone had run across this and if there's an example of a successful limit raise (and how it was done).

Thanks for any help.

what is the difference between listing an item with multiple quantities and listing the same item many times?

I don't know how they would count those two ways toward the limit.

After doing some more looking around today, it appears that the key is that the kind of software I listed is, in eBay's opinion, 'most commonly counterfeited.'

As long as I put the name in the listing title, their system flags it based on the software title. My photo of a new, sealed copy has no bearing on it.

I think I'll let this drop and just relist when the system lets me. I'm motivated to move some stuff and don't really want to wake the sleeping bear while things are going well otherwise.

Is yours a counterfeit?
If not,may be you can show where you bought it,say a sales receipt from Bestbuy or if you are a retailer, show the wholesaler, maker invoice.
Tiffany took Ebay to court as so many fake Tiffany items are showing up on Ebay,Tiffany accused Ebay of 'false advertising'/
Since then,Ebay will limit the number of Tiffany items a seller can sell at the same time, especially if you are an overseas seller, especially if you are based in Asia!

I was limited a while back from selling designer perfume on my jewelry ID. I was selling minitures in lots for around $10 so it wasn't like I could have ripped a lot buyers off for tons of money.
I called ebay and within a day the limit was removed. I too was a long time seller - top rated as well.

Some items you sell they will never lift the limits, how can an Asian seller selling Tiffany smalls-silver pencils, brooch, bracelet in the hundreds and claims they are from her own personal collection?

I listed a piece of original auto lit a while back. It didn't sell. I listed it 3 or 4 more times in the same month. eBay placed a 30 day hold on that item. I think the eBay computer thought I was making copies and sellng them.
A day or so later I get an email from a customer asking why I pulled the auction. shortly there after, 2-3 days, a note from ebay saying there investigation was complete and auction number xxx had been reinstated.
They almost never tell a seller why an auction was pulled or in my case why it went back up. I suspect my 10 years of selling and 100% FB helped a lot!
