Maybe it's me but with the USPS generated dc numbers I am unable to track any of my packages. When the paper dc's were still in use I had no issues. Now I take the number off the receipt and they do not show up on USPS site for tracking. Should I be looking somewhere else? I emailed USPS and the person gave me some tracking info but most of the numbers on the receipt came up invalid. Need some help here if anyone has any ideas.

Did you take your packages to the post office or do you just leave it in your mail box or give them to your postal carrier?

If you take your items to the PO and do not generate the labels on line, if you are shipping first class or parcel select (old parcel post) you have to spend an extra 90 cents to be able to track on line. You will get a tracking # if you do not pay extra for DC on these items, but only the PO can track the item.
If you ship priority, trackable DC is included even if you pay at the PO.

yes..at my post office I can no longer use the green dc labels. A number is generated and prints out on the receipt. I ship priority and it is included. The post office says this is the new and "improved" dc's but I can not track them online. Some improvement!!

I was pretty confused when the changes took place. My post office said if you ship First Class or Parcel Post and insure the package tracking is included and you can see it on line by viewing the insurance receipt number. It does work and I found their information to be true.
If not insured, the extra .90 for tracking comes into play.
Priority can always be tracked insured or uninsured. However, I take my parcels to the nearby post office and they are scanned, after that it's just pure luck if they will be scanned again, even Priority. We sent my granddaughter her birthday gift Priority insured. It was scanned at the post office and never again, lucky she received it on time. We sent an Ebay package Parcel Post insured, on the same day, scanned at the post office and never again so I don't even know if it arrived, 7 days have passed.
I think there is still some confusion as to what gets scanned or not at some sorting facilities and the postal carriers, themselves.

Capolady, you should be able to track on line if it is priority. I do it all the time. The tracking # is under each item.
Go back & make sure you did not mistype. They are completely trackable.

I just click the track button that shows up on PayPal beside the postage cost. But I print all my labels, haven't tried to use the green thingies in a long time.

You can no longer use the "green thingy." It is gone. Travking appears on the receipt if you go to the PO.

I mailed my income tax return recently and use the green DC form,it shows it has been delivered.
I did not go to the post office to mail it,I just left it in my mail box to be picked up.

Well, how did you use the green thingy if you put it into your mailbox? You have to pay for it. If you print a label, tracking it on there, but you do not use the green thingy.
My PO told me to throw them away, they are not used any more

I put stamps on the envelope and placed the DC on it.
Our post office does not seem to know the latest of what is happening, may be thats why they scan it.

Here is what I have been experiencing...... even though you print the confirmation on-line, if you still pay at the post office, you get a NEW confirmation number and they stick it over the printed one(no wonder they are going broke). If you try to track the new number via Vendio, you will get no record..PERIOD. If you enter the number you printed via Vendio, it will show "false". The only way I have found to track the NEW number is to use the USPS tracking page and it stinks. No more "acceptance" at your PO, no more arriving or departing sort.... WHAT'S THE USE?????

Forgot to mention, notified Vendio their tracking does not work with new tracking number. ALSO, the USPS does show complete handling. Initial record shows latest record, but clicking the Full Detail button shows all movements.

The big changes they made this year,it is no longer a delivery confirmation, they call it something else, tracking information.

Finally got to the bottom of this issue. I always take packages to the post office and as I discovered yesterday most of the postal employees do not know the difference between a dc number that I can track and their internal tracking number. Very poor training on the part of management and I pointed that out to the manager. I had to explain to the postal workers how the new system works and some didn't believe me until the manager told them I was correct. That's pitiful. As we all know ebay buyers are very savvy and will take advantage if possible. I shipped 5 packages, 4 without a trackable d.c. Out of those 4 there were 3 customers who said the dc was not trackable and they didn't receive the item. They win - I lose. Not again..I learned my lesson. Thanks to all the responses on here. Appreciate the help.

You have a very stinky PO. It has been awhile since trackable / online confirmation was "free" at the PO with priority mail. With first class & parcel select you have to pay 90 cents, but the PO can track those packages if they want to help you out.
