Bush to tout results of first 6 months

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President George W. Bush meets Friday with his Cabinet and plans a speech to tout the administration's achievements over the past six months and his goals for making the next six "even better," according to White House aides. The memo, obtained by CNN, highlights what the Bush administration considers its domestic achievements, including passage of his tax cut and progress on the president's education package, energy plan and faith-based agenda. Bush senior advisers also extolled the president's "visionary foreign policy."

I don't know whether to laugh or to throw-up!

Would that be visionary or simply seeing things?

I can't wait to have someone explain how alienating and antagonizing our allies is somehow "visionary".

Do the folks at the Guinness Book have a record for shortest speech by a US President?

That vision must be about -9.9 with severe astigmatism.
But, it's hard to see without a functioning brain to receive the optic nerve impulses.

And his buds are making money. You're just not a FOB (friend of bush).

I think that it's a psychoses...with delusions of grandeur. As the deterioration progresses, he may become unable to comprehend the simplest problems and may optimstically squander his money on harebrined schemes or become involved in a variety of immoral and antisocial acts.

Loss of critical judgment and erratic, unpredictable and even dangerous actions may occurr.

In other words, he is crazy.

He'll have time for a long nap.

He's finished in under six minutes.

Vague BS, more of the same nonsense about helping our country to the rightious path.

He did pointedly add that all of these endeavors will need to be done on a limited budget. Did someone tell him that he's running out of money?

oh,.here

What a laugh! Now all the Republicans are touting how successful their short time has been, as well as Bush beaming about his accomplishments before he leaves on his month-long vacation.....I always feel like the last to find stuff out, and I hate repeating myself but,......what accomplishments??

They're counting passages in the house as wins even though the senate is yet to go.

What a putz! The word vague leapt right out of the article...sums up the man and his "presidency" (of course, the British said the same things about his missile policy last week, didn't they?)

``Our nation has needs that will not wait...Beginning in September, I'll be proposing creative ways to tackle some of the toughest problems in our society.''

We've already seen some of his "creative ideas." I wait with bated breath to see what he comes up with next...perhaps handing over the rest of the nation's wildlife sanctuaries to the oil companies? Missile bases on the moon? Faith-based social security?

Looking ahead to fall battles over the appropriations bills that keep government running and other legislation, Bush warned lawmakers against "irresponsible spending" and partisanship.

That's rich coming from a man who can't pay back his corporate backers fast enough.

"Americans know obstructionism when they see it and, when necessary, I will point it out,"

Doublespeak: We know it when we see it, but if we don't know it when we see it, he'll point it out (but only in cases when *he's* not doing the obstructing).

the president celebrated passage earlier this year of an across-the-board income tax cut

Yep, his one real accomplishment...piddly little checks which aren't "rebates" at all. .....And no mention of his "plans" for social security.

and action in Congress on education, energy and health-insurance legislation.

Yes, what exactly *are* those accomplishments, Mr. President? He carefully neglects to go into detail in case we notice the emperor has no clothes.

"We're ending deadlock and drift and making our system work on behalf of the American people"

What exactly does that mean? Anything to do with his plans to make us part of Mexico?

"I'm headed home to the heartland to listen to the American people and to talk about the values that unite and sustain our country."

So...the only place that American people have values is "the heartland." uh huh

Beginning in September, I'll be proposing creative ways to tackle some of the toughest problems in our society.

This should be good...

Darn UBB!

"this should be good.."

No, no, bunnicula. You're challenged to be a citizens not a spectator in the renewal of your neighborhoods and your cities.

Sorta' copped that from "Ask not what your country will do for you, ask what you can do for your country"

Yes, what the hell does that mean? I know what deadlock is -- but "drift"? The word sums up no connection with any political process that I've ever heard of before. Does anyone know what he's referring to?

Of course, it's not surprising that he didn't have much to report:

By the end of this holiday, Mr Bush will have spent nearly two months of his presidency at his ranch, and an additional 14 weekends at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland.

Three months, altogether, kicking back. And not counting of course all the time he's spent outside the country completely.

"The president is in outstanding health and is fit for duty," the doctors said..."All data suggest he will remain so for the duration of his presidency,"

Well, sure--if he keeps up the same heavy schedule of vacations, he should be able tostay happy and stress-free for the entire four years.

And what an unfortunate pose that was for him to be photographed in.

It has become necessary for all politicians to give shorter speeches (under ten minutes) as that is all the American people can grasp at one time - not just the republicans. This is a fact of our times. Ontime

Baloney!

That's the Elitist talk that Republican politicians always use. You think that it's only Dubya who looks down on Americans? Slamming Americans is parr for the course from the Republican Blather Machine -- and some people just eat it up!

I'll admit that anyone who would vote for Bush as president would definetly meet that description. Fortunately, the vast majority of Americans do not.

And who was it that became President?????

also the word 'drift' was used in the contex that we have been wallowing in no definite direction for the past eight years and its time to find the straight and narrow and take a stand, not waver. Ontime

Thanks for that explanation, Ontime!

However the Republican Blather Machine wants to slant the Clinton years, those eight years took us to economic prosperity unrivaled in American history!

Now, with a president who truely does not have a moral compass, it really WILL be a case of the blind leading the blind!

Reason being that the republicans set Clinton up while they were in office so he would not have to do anything substantial (and he did not!). He just was lucky he did not wind up in prison!!! Ontime

"Reason being that the republicans set Clinton up while they were in office ..."

The Impeachment Hearings ... right ... I almost forgot. Ken Starr, press leaks, nearly $50 million dollars wasted to learn that Clinton unzipped his fly, a witch hunt that this nation hasn't seen since the McCarthy fiasco. Who'd want to remember that?

"so he would not have to do anything substantial (and he did not!)"

True. A six-year long blockade of all necessary legislation by the Republicans pretty much told the story. The audacity displayed by Republicans afterwards commenting about how he was not able to get anything done because of them draging their feet and opposing every piece of this nation's business -- except for legislation that funneled money into their buddy's pockets, is entirely mind-numbing to believe that they would actually be PROUD of slamming the nation!

"He just was lucky he did not wind up in prison!!!"

No kidding! With announcements by Trent Lott that effectively destroyed the right of the Press to say anything that they wanted to means that no one is safe! If he and the Republicans can do away with First Amendment Rights on a whim, what chance did Clinton ever have?
