Following months of regulations consisting of restrictive and destructive requirements imposed by the Los Angeles Dept. of Health on the sale of Korean rice cakes, Goernor Davis has stepped in to bring reprieve through just action.

"Officials in the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services last year
began cracking down on warm rice cakes, fearing that the food's water
content allows bacteria to flourish when not refrigerated.

Unlike the flat, feather-light rice cakes sold in health food aisles, Korean rice
cakes are soft and gooey, consisting of rice, salt, sugar and other varied
ingredients.

When refrigerated, however, they turn hard and unsavory, said David Kim, a
lobbyist for the Korean Rice Cake Association, the group of 23 bakery
owners that formed in response to the recent crackdown.

Assemblywoman Carol Liu, D-South Pasadena, the author of AB 187, said
she felt Korean Americans were being unfairly targeted."

They had to lift that ban, just so someone would be able to say - "Let them eat Korean rice cake!"

Slow news day?

You Californians have been holding out on us Pennsylvanians.

KRS, I would like to have me some of those yummy rice cakes, sans bacteria, of course. In which case, I will opt for the "hard and unsavory" ones.

In return, I will send you some Hogmaw. LOL

German, Kraftdinner.

The term Pennsylvania Dutch was actually Pennsylvania Deutsche.

I don't know when it became Dutch, but I wish to heck they would change it back to Deutsche.

We're German, doggone it!!!
