Communication No. 1115: Figure Skating & Ice Dancing
Undignified lifts and movements
Following many complaints about the choice of lifts and movements in Pair Skating and Ice Dancing, there is serious concern about the display to the television public and audiences present of undignified poses/positions. These are being performed mainly by the ladies: for example, sustained upside down splits, and spread eagles while leaning backwards low to the ice.
Henceforth, Referees and Judges are advised to take a deduction of 0.1 from the second mark for each movement they consider to be "undignified".
Members are asked to advise their coaches, skaters, Referees and Judges that such deductions will be applied to all programs next season.

Gravid, Nude audience in a skating rink! {Brrrrrrr!} Only their eyes showing....Announcer: that was a double toe loop,ahhh nooo a double (who knows how to spell sough cow?) Anyway they would be hard pressed to call the move...at least now they could say sustained upside down split...naughty, naughty!! Or Cheeky showing!!

Here we go. What one person considers undignified could be totally different than the oppinion of another...
It might be undignified if the skater was nude, but with everything covered, I don't see a problem with it.

WHEW!I looked at the thread title and thought it was going to be here ,at AW! No more undignified ladies allowed here!No more floozies! I would have had to pack up and leave.
Thank goodness it's only skating.

Next moral concern HAS to be gymnastics!
I mean the way those thin little costumes tuck and cling. It is a far better meat show than a beauty contest. Gives an old guy a cardiovascular work out sitting in the recliner swilling beer. Heart hammering, sweat on the forehead. Really missed out in my youth never dating a gymnist.

Undignified splits by the ladies? There is such a thing as art. Whether it be a painting or the wondeful magic that two perfermers may create by skating. There is always naysayers--even to art.
If we want to get santimonious, how about some of those outfits the men wear?? Lordy-we know more about their bodies that only their mother's should know.
Another tempest in a teapot.

This is sad, if true. Women have had to struggle to even *be* in competitive sports of any kind. Years ago, one of the biggest blocks wa that sports were not "ladylike" (following closely on the heels of the myth that it just was not healthy for women to exercise heavily as we were too "frail" . Now someone is taking the first step backwards.

Our little town just had what they called the "Ewe Review" where they took fiberglass sheep and put them outside each business and allowed the business to decorate them anyway they liked. Since they are all ewes they are all female but some ended up cross dressers and otherwise UNdignified. My favorite is this one however outside the shop that sells stuff for battered women. I dub it the hussy ewe.
An obvious honor to our home town heroine Madona.

They did about 2 dozen of these and they do intend to have a charity auction of them - here is another I liked - a sheep in wolves clothing!
