Just in from my sister-in-law's scanner ... a plane is down in Johnstown at the airport with a bomb on it
Route 219 is closed .... all medical personnel being called into hospitals ... no long distance here ... the mall has been evacuated
One plane down in Somerset at Hidden Valley ... a friend of mine is in a tournament there today 
My cousin had a meeting today in the World Trade Center
THIS IS FREAKIN JOHNSTOWN ....

Nobody has touched much on the Jonestown, new wise. Any word of the plane that went down there? Is it connected with NYC disaster?

I heard "speculation" that the plane that crashed was the hijacked plane reported to be on it's way to DC a while ago.......

I am in Johnstown. We are 90 miles out of Pittsburgh. They are talking to a witness on my local TV now.
It was hijacked and went down. It is said to be a 767 with no survivors. Originated in Ohio enroute to Cleveland. They don't know who the carrier was yet.
My sister-in-law works at the major medical center here. She heard on her scanner that there is a plane at the airport with a bomb on it.
The SWAT team is there ... and has moved everyone back.
We have a Federal Courthouse here and it has been evacuated.
They are having trouble establishing cellular phone contact out there - it is very rural with lots of mountains.

The mayor just asked that major employers send their employees home.
Route 219 is closed ... the Galleria Mall is closed. One school near the crash site is telling parents they must come in and pick up their kids.
EYEWITNESS:
Plane was 2000 - 3000 ft above ground heading to Pittsburgh. Dipped wings to left to head to Johnstown airport. Then dipped to right. Then went down without the landing gear on. He said it looked like he didn't have enough power to get to where he wanted to go. It was a jumbo jet.
Picture shows HUGE crater.

This plane went down in a strip mine area about 2 miles away from the people.
The pilot might have done a heroic move here to save the people of Shanksville.

FBI just moved all media away from the crash area or they will be arrested ... and they are about a half mile away.
On site now ... Local police, FBI, Swat Team
The Crash
421 people on board. US Air. No survivors. The flight was from Newark NJ to San Francisco. According to the newscaster they cannot figure why it was flying over our area.

My sister in Pittsburgh just called. Her local news says there is something at Allegheny County now.
Our news just said something is now in West Central PA.
Local schools and colleges are closing early now.
Is the same stuff going on in your areas or is this just mine?

My sister is in Erie and we have relatives east of Pittsburgh. My sister called on her cell phone because she said they asked everyone not to use the long distance lines.
We just had a plane land in Cleveland; the local news reported that it has safely landed and was being evacuated and contained so that a bomb search could be started.
It may be one of the planes that are missing.

That was the same crash ... UNCONFIRMED REPORTS ... I'll bet this is the information that ties it all together.
The Westmoreland 911 center had an air phone call that there was a hijacker on board with a bomb.
What I thought was a second plane must have been information on the first one that crashed. That, however, does not explain why the swat team and all the police are at the airport ... which is quite a way away from the crash site.
The post office just closed .... anyone who sees their letter carriers is to tell them they are to secure their mail and go home. I just caught mine.

Becky: Of course I'm praying for your daughter! And for all our daughters - and sons. The world is so interrelated now that almost everyone has someone they care about in New York - and in your area, perhaps, too!
This puts us Americans in touch with the rest of humanity. We've been so fortunate not to have routine bombings on our shores. As I told one of my daughters who called crying this morning, this terror and fear we're all feeling is what Europeans and the British went through for years and years. Horrid.
And I wonder (don't know if I should even breathe this) is the terrorists were seeing Bush as a weak president and felt more comfortable doing this now. Who knows.

Our mayor is on TV now. The plane that landed was one of TWO that entered Cleveland airspace. The one landed the other was lost over Toledo.
The plane at our airport is evacuated and is being searched. Thank God those people are safe!

MrsC (or anyone from the PA area) do you know where a resort named Poquemont (spelling probably wrong) is located?...My mother is currently at that resort & I don't know where it is in PA and I NEED to know that she not in the area of the planes (I understand it is two planes) that went down in PA...If you have ANY idea, PLEASE let me know....TIA

Do you mean The Poconos? They are far away from here. I haven't heard anything about that area of the state.
Phone service is not good around PA right now. Please do not get scared if you can't get thru. Keep trying. I have even been having trouble with local service today.

Thanks Becky...It's a resport named Poquemont, (poke mont is how it sounds, how ya spell it is a mystery to me!), I'm guessin' it's in the Poconos, but don't know for sure...Will keep trying to get thru...Mom never realizes that we sweat when we worry about her & would never think to call us...

I would guess it is in the Pocono Mountains. It is a total resort area ... mainly honeymooners.
No reason for any terroristic targets there 
Try a search on Yahoo .... and keep entering different spellings. Perhaps you will come up with the correct one.

There is a news conference on now. Twice he has been questioned about an explosive device. Once he jumped to another subject ... the second time he just looked down at the table and did not comment.
Our airport is now closed .. but will open for requested landings.
The airplane that crashed came in "without communication" at 6000 ft. and descending. It should have been at 13000 to 25000 ft. It was headed toward the tower. They evacuated the air traffic control tower.
The airport director of operations held the news conference. He said they were watching what was going on at the World Trade Center when suddenly he got the call about the plane.
Westmoreland 911 took a call from a man locked in the bathroom who said he was on the plane and they were being hijacked.
My sister just called. She talked to someone who heard on the radio in the Pittsburgh area that there was a bomb at the Johnstown airport.
So, the plot thickens ....

I'm not familiar with that resort either.
Why not start a thread in the EO to Pocono's attention and see if he is lurking. If it is indeed in the Poconos, he should know.

I'm in Grand Forks ND. They have found something suspious on one of the planes that landed here. It was flying from Canada to Minneapolis.

This is crazy
They are saying that the plane down in Somerset County is outside of Pittsburgh. That is why people are hearing of a Pittsburgh crash.
