I was reading the WHO recommendations to countries to be prepared to treat their populations.

It occured to me - these nut cases don't have to steal a spray plane to distribute a disease. All they have to do is expose themselves, wait 3 days or so and travel all over exposing as many people as they can in airports - restaurants - hotels - conventions - trade shows - sporting events-subways.

If they can get 20 guys to fly into a skyscraper what is a few days of discomfort from ebola or smallpox?

How many people would 20 of them infect in 3 or 4 days traveling back and forth in crowds?

You gotta think outside the box.

Wash your hands often, and don't pick your nose. That's my advice.

That is exactly what is so scary about fanatics - they will take pain or death, if it furthers their cause.

Someone I was talking to told me something, and I cannot find any information, perhaps someone here can help.

Is it true, that families with many children, will send a few of their sons to the Taliban training schools - and receive renumeration? (The person I spoke with said their status in society is elevated by having a child in the schools, and they are moved to nicer housing, set up in business, cash may be exchanged as well).

This person said that when the student goes out and completes a 'mission', (dead or alive after the mission), the family receives further renumeration?

I was told this illustrates the hypocrisy of the Taliban - they abhor capitalism, the excesses of the western lifestyle, etc, but are willing to sell a child.

Has anyone heard this?

I saw a program on TV showing them being treated like rock stars. They were dressed in special outfits and paraded around the town.

Our government pays widows and orphans of veterans who died in service to their country a monthly stipend.

It is one thing to go out in a blaze of glory, but another to lay in bed sick for days. You know bedpans, emesis basins, IVs not very heroic.

That's what's so scarey now gravid - thinking about all the ways these people could wreak havoc. I heard on TV that if anthrax was somehow released, there aren't enough antibiotics on hand to combat it and even if there was, you could still die. I thought about ricin made from castor bean seeds. A pinhead of ricin could kill a person and is hard to detect. ANYONE could make up a batch, anytime, anywhere. Do you think "they" will resort to this kind of stuff?

I hate to say this, you guys, but this is a public message board..... they could be reading this, please don't give them any ideas! Myself I've refrained commenting for just that point....

It's very scary....

Make peace with your God, kiss your kids, and be ready for anything.

The terrorists are not unintelligent or lacking in imaigination. Now if you had said that it might give new ideas to members of Congress we could agree.

Do a search for "chemical gas mask" at eBay. Anyone with slumping sales might want to offer these items...

"there aren't enough antibiotics on hand"

I had instructions for using fish antibotics for human consumption but I have lost that information and forgotten even what exactly to buy. Maybe someone else knows. The object is, you can buy it over the counter, it is that same thing used on humans, just a weaker strength.

I really like survival, primitive living, and homesteading as a general topic but didn't think anyone here is into it much. Will have to find my Y2K e-loop again.
