Sorry, but I don't know how to build a link to this but it is worth the time it will take to copy and paste.

Beautiful flag! Just thought I would let you all know that there is a thread about patriotism and your personal feelings about it.

It's interesting to read differing viewpoints.

"I am worshipped"?

Teri, its a figure of speech. The flag is worshipped for what it represents. Just as the cross is worshipped for what it represents.

Of course it could, Teri. Doesnt everyone worship something? Its a thing. A representative of what IS. Doesnt mean worship as in WORSHIP.
In other words, dont you worship your bible? The one that was your grandmothers grandmothers? Isnt that a form of worship? Its just something you can hold, that you know represents what you truly do worship so youre not really worshipping the thing that you worship. Hows that for redundancy?

"Doesn't mean worship as in WORSHIP"
Ok, good enough.
Like "I LOVE you." and "I love artichokes."
I admit that I have worshiped the ground a few people walked on in my life and there was a really fine line there.

The cross is not worshipped what was done with it is remembered With out Jesus who hung on the cross and suffered for mans sins then risen the cross would just be another reminder of death and violence in the middle east ..
as well the flag is not worshipped either its its principals and freedom and justice it stands for and the men and women who died fighting for these things that is remembered !!!!
The flag its self is nothing but cloth on a stick without the people who stand behind its meaning with out the country for which it stands what would the flag be a reminder of ???
In both cases you worship and trust in god no matter what your faith.
The pledge of allegiance is more like a wedding vows, in the bible it says to love and cherish your wife she is a gift of god to you the same hold true of the flag and the republic in which it stands..
