I'm going thru my midlife crisis phase and need to buy myself a new car. I've driven a P T Crusier (cute, comfortable but kinda cramped), an Acura- didn't like it and a Nissan Xterra that I really liked. It was blue and flashy. I don't want a "Mom-mobile"-done that, pick-up, Large SUV or Van- I drive a 15 passenger van right now and I plan to keep it. My DH drives a Lincoln LS so I'm not going to look at them. Nice cars but His and Hers Lincolns is not what I am going for! I want a car that turns heads!
It must have 4 doors as I am going to have another baby and will have a car seat to deal with.
I hope to test drive a Jaguar X series (stick of course!), a Mustang- must be a convertable, and a used Rolls (why not?) this weekend.
What are your favorite cars? - Must be under $35,000.
And must not look like all the other cars on the road.

Get your self a classic. Something like this:

I am not sure which Acura model you did not like but I just got a TL type S and it's the best value in the price range. BTW- the Mustang has 2 doors! Any Rolls in your price range would have to be so old that parts would be incredibly expensive.

Beautiful car!
Mustangs have only 2 doors- I guess I mistook something with 4 doors for a Mustang.
And yes the Rolls is 30+ years old but what the heck! I've never driven one before......

Of those three, a Jag is the best bet - but I'd rather have a Toyota...

Have you looked at an Audi?
Very comfortable very nice.
I don't think they have ever recovered their price scale from the 70's

If you can, bring an infant car seat with you.
You would be surprised just how hard it is to place a car seat in some 4 door cars without having to put the front seats all the way on the dash board!
I love my Sedan DeVille and my mom's Seville STS (Very sporty!) neither of which are under 35K, unless you buy pre-owned.

If you're considering European makes and/or classics, how about a 1935 French La Licorne paddlewheel amphibious car? It will turn some heads.

KK,
Have you considered how difficult it might me to have the Rolls serviced? Or, do you live near a dealership that will work on it?
(Hmmm...wondering if Rolls Royce has dealerships?)
That was one of the problems when I was panting for a Jag. The dealership, while straight down the Interstate, was still at least 75 miles away.

I've had my PT Cruiser for a year & a half now & absolutely love it!!! Well built. Zippy. Great looking. Hold five adults over 6 feet tall. Versatile interior.
I've only had two other cars I liked near as well: a 76 Volvo and my first car, a 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury.

krazykeri,
In your price range, blue and guaranteed to turn heads....and snap yours clean off...
And, if a lottery win happens to come your way...
Cool half mil among those 3...but you get a car for all seasons...
Seriously, a vintage car can be good transportation, is economical on registration and insurance, and most are easy and inexpensive to repair.
I've never owned a new car...my current transportation just turned 37 earlier this year......yeah, it's a Mustang...*G*

Bunnicula: Ooh, I'm envious! I want a Cruiser-I covet a Cruiser!
Elder kitten said he was thinking about getting a Cruiser and having it painted a la the car in the old ZZTop videos.

KK is looking for something unique.
In my neck of the woods, the Cruisers are no longer unique; they are all over the place.
Obviously, people love them.
How about this, KK...
I just watched Motorweek on PBS and they were showcasing the Land Rover Freelander. Even the top of the line HSE sells for about $32,000.

I have a 2000 Toyota Corolla and I love it. It has four doors and rides comfortable. The gas mileage is good. It has a 4 cylinder engine. But, the HP is high enough that it can get out of its own way. Had an Escort wagon with a 4 cylinder that couldn't get out if its own way. If you wanted a step up from the Corolla, the Camry is even nicer. But, it was out of my price range at the time.

My I suggest...
A new Pontiac Grand Prix GTP? It is available in a 4 foor sedan, and has a supercharged 6-cylinder engine that produces 240hp and 280 ft-lbs of torque. Pretty darn sporty looking, while still being semi practical:
