Bush falsely claimed to have been to war. "I've been to war. I've raised twins. If I had a choice, I'd rather go to war." He has not been to war, not even close. He's a liar and his claim, however jokingly made, is an affront to every veteran who has gone to war.

Maybe he's making reference to his current role as Commander-in-Chief?????

It looks more like he engaged in a war to keep out of the war.

"Had he [Bush] reported in, I would have had some recall, and I do not. I had been in Texas, done my flight training there. If we had had a first lieutenant from Texas, I would have remembered."
(Gen. William Turnipseed (ret), in the Boston Globe, May 23, 2000)

"If [Bush] had come back to Houston, I would have kept him flying the 102 until he got out. But I don't recall him coming back at all."
(Maj. Gen. Bobby Hodges (ret), in the Boston Globe, July 28, 2000)

"Lt. Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of this report."
(Lieutenant Colonel William D. Harris Jr. and Lieutenant Colonel Jerry B. Killian, on Bush's annual efficiency report dated May 2, 1973)

"There was a sense of shared responsibility… The responsibility to show up and do your job."
(George W. Bush, in the National Guard Review, Winter 1998)

The question of how George W. Bush got into the Texas Guard as a pilot trainee less than two weeks before his graduation from Yale has been a recurring issue in his political campaigns and has now been raised in a contentious lawsuit in which Barnes, who retired from politics after serving as House speaker and then lieutenant governor, is scheduled to give a deposition in Austin Sept. 27.

Barnes said in an interview this summer that when he was speaker he sometimes received requests for help in obtaining Guard slots, but never received such a call from then-Rep. Bush or anyone in the Bush family. But he declined to comment when asked if an intermediary or friend of the Bush family had ever asked him to intercede on George W. Bush's behalf.

Barnes has refused to make any further statement. However, he has told associates in Texas that Adger once called him seeking his help for George W. Bush. Barnes then called Rose, and, the sources say, recommended young Bush in a see-what-you-can-do fashion. Rose was in charge of the state's Air National Guard as assistant adjutant general for air.

This reminds me of the lie that Daddy bush was in combat. I distinctly recall that when Bush, Sr.'s combat record was challenged, 60-Minutes did a show on it. in it, 3 surviving flight officers said that there never was a Bush flying a plane into combat; that they'd never heard of him back then. And then, the Ronald Reagan White House managed to produce just one (1) vetran who swore up and down that Bush was there. For the Republicans, that settled it and the history books have been altered ever since! That more vetrans of his supposed squadron exist(ed) who were mechanics and ground crew also stated that they had never heard of George Bush in their squadron was buried as well. Like Father, like Son.

Bush's political career is dependent upon glorifying and perpetuating a state of war. He's a desperate little man who will do or say anything to achieve that end.
