Actually, he spoke about $30 million dollars per month spent on the "war" so far and he wanted to escalate the costs to astronomical terms. We'll be so far into debt by the time 2004 rolls around that not even six generations from now will we be able to dig us out of it.

This was a report of a failure. A state of the unioun address? He covered that with his first sentence when he said that we are at war, we are in a recession, we have rising unemployment, and that doesn't matter.
From then on it was a bunch of politick'n BS.
We used to take on projects for the public good when I was working; little things like toy drives, or to build a float for a local parade. There'd be work to be done and many got in to do it-all voluntarily. But there was one guy who'd always promise to come and help - always saying "i'm gonna do this" or "I'm gonna do that". We got to calling him "Imo" for "Imo do this" and like that. He never once did a thing that he'd said he'd do, but when the project was done and if the newspeople came around to give it coverage he'd be the first to jump in front of the camera.
Tht guy's name was David, this one's name is George. David didn't really do any harm.

What's I tell ya last summer? I told you that the Republicans would twist the facts around and blame their efforts to derail this economy on Clinton. Just the other day, Bush was going on and on in a speech about "the failed economic policies of the Clinton Administration." Can you believe it?
Worse, were the several dozen people in the audience who worshiped him and and acknolwdeged the "terrible Clinton Economic policies" that have brought us to this ruin.
I guess its what Republican Politicians always say: their voters (not ALL voters) really can't remember a thing six months later! Only the dimmest bulb would forget how prosperous the Clinton economic policies were!

Are you saying everything was in perfect shape when he took office and there were no proplems until now? Somehow I think we have been down this road before.

Absolutely not! As has been shown in this forum numerous times, Bush and Cheney campaigned for the last year and a half of Clinton's administration to get OPEC higher prices for their oil. That it eventually did come about and cause energy prices to rise and costs to inflate and slammed this whole economic recovery in the balls, just so that Bush could go against the Most Successful Economic Period in American History in his bid for the White House. Had Bush and Cheney NOT gone about actively campaigning FOR higher oil prices and slamming our whole economy, chances are that he would have inherited an economy in a much better condition than he made it into.
