Has anyone noticed that the Pres can not put more than five to eight words together without a very long pregnant pause? As time goes on and he takes more opportunities to PR and Pep Rally, I'm getting very annoyed with this speech impediment. I feel it insults me.

And along that same track...has anyone noticed that he speaks on a 5th grade level? I mean he really does. He is not trying to talk down to 5th grade level...he really speaks at 5th grade level. Rarely says words of more than 3-4 syllable. I think this is why he has such a high approval rating. The majority of Americans understand what he is saying and don't feel he is talking 'down' to them. His father is really coaching him well.

Did you ever watch any news story where they stick the mike in front of a teenager and ask him a question??? Believe me they're going to have to tell George to simplify a little more, 5th grade is too high.

I am still in mourning that Adlai Stevenson didn't win in 1952 and 1956. He was just "too intelligent" for the American voter. He was a fabulous person and candidate, too.

Samuel Johnson once said, "The public, sir--the public is an ass." Well said, Sam!

It isn't just bush. It was real prevalent with Clinton, somewhat with Bush Sr. and most noticable with Reagan. I think that all presidents as well as most politians are coached to speak that way.

Remember Vice President Dan Quale? I believe that he and George W. must have had the same "coach".

As Quale said,
"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."

There's a very vocal and loyal group of republicans that appears every four years that supports Dan Quayle in his bid for the Presidency ...

Yes, really. They claim that he's been "misquoted" and "taken out of context," if you can believe it. They say that he's just the sort of person that we need to be running this country. In both the 1996 and 2000 presidential races, he ran in the primarieds. The scarey thing is that he had twice the support the second time around. Maybe they'll replace Bush in 2004 with Dan Quayle as Head Dummy.
