Enron Herings are being broadcast right now.
Should be interesting to see Jeffrey Skilling's performance.

per the Godfather...You can always steal more with a briefcase than with a gun.

But the guy who robs the local fast food restaurant goes to jail.

Remember Ivan Boesky in the 1980's and him getting caught by the SEC for inside trading? He made 3 billion dollars illegally. He was convicted, sentanced to 2 years in a pleasure prison, never to be allowed to get anywhere near trading, and fined $300,000. Now what does that tell you?

It tells you not to bother with 7-11s. If you're going to be a thief, go for the big bucks. Crime pays - for some.

I wonder just how much any of these guys will say. Most are pleading the 5th. Talk about passing the buck. Gee, nobody knows anything.

I did watch today. Skilling was slick and unbelievable. Reminded me of a city manager I once worked with; nothing was ever his fault, he knew nothing, he couldn't remember, etc. I'd love to hear what a body-language expert has to say about his performance today.

Wish I were on that congressional committee: my first words would be "Shame on you, shame on Enron; you're all thieves." I keep waiting for someone to use the word "shame."

They've all got Kenneth Lay lined up as the fall guy for Enron. Not that he doesn't deserve it, but he's going to be the sacrificial lamb - the patsy, and the rest will melt away into the scenery and the really Big Boys will get away scott free - as usual.

Supposedly, last week Sadaam Hussien of Iraq agreed to allow inspectors back into Iraq with one stipulation: the inspectors all had to be from Arthur-Anderson!

"You're perhaps the most accomplished confidence man since Charles Ponzi. I'd say you were a carnival barker, except that wouldn't be fair to carnival barkers."

SENATOR PETER G. FITZGERALD,in comments to Kenneth L. Lay, former chairman of Enron.

..."A carny will at least tell you upfront that he's running a shell game."

Woodward may get a demerit from the White House for printing that.

Sen. Byron L. Dorgan said he wanted to know "how is it that 29 Enron executives at the top were abole to earn $1 billion in stock sales in 2001 while people at the bottom lost everything."
