This week there are more U.S. troops in Utah than were ever sent to Afganistan. This little fact may be meaningless, but it still makes me sick.

It's a little hard to go about business as usual when you have 15,000 heavily armed and camoflaughed troops making sure that if you crack any jokes aboiut security that you'll get into trouble. That's what I find scarey: that Freedom of speech is being eroded even more. I can understand the smartness of not yelling FIRE! in a packed theater or BOMB! in an airport; but no jokes about the obvious at the Olympic games? Absurd!

It's crazy.

They are getting carried away with the program. But, I suppose it keeps the issue of terrorism uppermost in the minds of the American people and supports the justification for another war...so that Bush can carry on his conquest.

We are becoming less and less distinguishable from China.

Have you noticed that?

That is the WHOLE and ONLY point to having our troops there. It is pure propaganda: both to our friends and other visitors, but most especially, to keep the War Drums beating steadily in the minds of American citizens.

Interesting thing is that the terrorists have already beaten us on the Olympics without firing a shot. Look at the nearly $1 billion we've spent JUST IN CASE someone tries something. They've made us spend our hard-earned tax money and haven't had to commit suicide to "get" us.

More Like Cuba ?

I agree even Gore is growing a beard.

maybe they (the republicrats) can incite the foul mouthed jerks in the music industry to sing ''the corporate jackboot lockstep''.

Bush needs history lessons, Carter had his ass whipped by the ayatollah who then ate reagan alive in the iran contrea affair then he worked his way up to old man bush. Now baby bush thinks he is going to outsmart these double dealing hucksters with his snake oil show and 48billion in taxpayer money for oil protection. An idiot can see the handwriting on the wall.

then again maybe I'm being to harsh they could always make a new olympic event could call it contain arafat or better yet advanced gestapo questioning. you know who could make ze old man sign ze papers, the fastest.
