Last night, on CBC News, they did a story about a few people that have packed up everything they owned and moved their families to Canada (B.C. - pot heaven) to prevent being prosecuted in the U.S. for marijuana charges. I felt so bad for one guy who left everything and everyone behind because he was facing 25 years for cultivation (6 plants). All of these people were using pot for medical reasons and all were facing very stiff jail terms if they EVER returned to the U.S.

The U.S. is considering extradition...this blew me away. I would definately support Canada in NOT extraditiing these people because they have come here to get the medicine the U.S. won't provide them. What do you think??

We have an inalienable right to pursue happiness but a government that can tell us what drugs we can use...
Does this seem wrong to anyone?

I don't know how much Canada can resist bullying by the big Southern Neighbor. I would hate to count on their protection when it might get really expensive for them.

You're such a pot-stirrer, Krafty...

I think it's ironic that marijuana is California's top agricultural product. Gotta grow tons and tons of the stuff to outsell our other crops, but only rarely do we hear that a big pot farm has been located. These high-profile petty busts you mentioned are just a way for the Feds to appear to be "doing something" about the "problem", while they are "unable" (nudge, nudge; wink, wink) to tackle this billion-dollar industry at its source.

Canada will do whatever we want. Considering that we let these "criminals" slip through our fingers in the first place, I doubt we'll make more than a half-a$$ed attempt to get them back. JMO.

Uh huh, it's been the #1 cash crop here in Oregon for over 30 years. What few busts that come down here seem to be the result of other, non-related criminal activity.

That Calif. bust were the Conservatives telling Calif. voters how it was going to be with their medical marijuana initiative. Sounds like you have the same problem in Calif. that we do have here in Oregon: a mightily disrespectful attitude from the Republican-controlled legislature to the initiative-voting public.
