Yeah, the cats in my neighborhood laughed their heads off as one by one those big German shepherds succumbed to hip displaysia...

I wonder if this is an actual photo or spliced.

If it was real, I wonder if this was a test for police dogs to remain seated while being provoked? I heard they test police officers for self control by yelling insults at them!

I wondered also if it tested the dogs' ability to sit still and pass up the temptation for a munchie. The dogs' attention seems to be focused on the cat so I'd guess the photo is real. It also looks as though a couple dogs are about to flunk out of the academy.

saabsister,
Yeah, sort of like waving a chocolate cake in front of a dieter.

The dogs' interest is definitely peaked.

Years ago when my mom was dating a police man he had a K-9 dog named Trooper. When he would leave Trooper in the police car the dog would lock the doors. He was the sweetest dog you could ever meet unless he had his working collar on. Then he was all business. When he retired we made him a family pet. Just my 2 cents. Barbara

I've heard of blue collar and white collar workers; now dog collars!

Cute story!

They are the best dogs! I had a German Shephard named Leibe a long time ago. She was sweet but also protective.
I wish I could afford to get my kids one -- we will someday.

ashlandtrader,
You must be planning on getting a pure German Shepherd with papers? Not a mix breed?

I had a HUGE shepard that I got at the pound. They gave him to me free if I would just take him because they did not have a cage big enough for him to stand. I am 6 foot and I could lay my hand flat on his shoulders when he stood beside me. My wife used to joke he was six and a half hands high - using the same units as her jumper show horse. He had snapped a fresh 1/2" manila rope attached to his collar when they got him.
Best dog I ever had. He would allow someione IN the house when we were gone but he would not let them OUT!

Isn't that called "entrapment." LOL

That kitty HAD to be on drugs. "Gee, I think I'll take a stroll along this long line of BIG DOGS, you know, to see if any of them dare to mess with me." Yawn Stretch.

Yes, that would be my dream. I would really like to try and find the family who we got her from and see if they are still breeding dogs. It would be really great to get a relative of hers.

One dream at a time though. We are just starting to get serious about looking for a house. We need that before the dog dream could ever be possible.

gravid-- That's funny!

Finding a dog with the perfect temperament for your family is so special. I hope you find your house and the dog from the "relative.'
