How freakin' ironic if we somehow manage to tone down the current Al-qaeda threat only to witness a nuclear war between these two countries and fall victim to the subsequent fallout.

Yeah, maybe Bush should have looking in their direction instead of trying to tell Sharon on how to run his country.

If they appear to be about to fight lay in some dried milk and extra canned veggies. You don't want to eat fresh for a year or two.

If, like me, you have several computers ( I can see 5 from where I am sitting) pull all the wires and cables from a couple and wrap them in aluminum foil. Just in case somebody gets frisky and lights off a nuke in orbit and the EMP cooks some electronics. Be nice to have a back up or two.
Be nice to disconnect the antenna for awhile if you have any ham or short wave radios.

If Ghandi had a grave he'd be fasting in it.

It would be highly unlikely that there would be a nuclear exchange. The US has control of Pakistan's nukes, and India wouldn't need them to overrun Pakistan just as it did Kashimir. India has enough people to take over Pakistan using sticks and rocks.

India's threat is also nice leverage for the US to make Pakistan cooperate in the war on terror.

Pakistan may end up again part of India before it's over and there will be no nukes used.

REAMOND- How is it that we have control over Pakistan's nukes? The U.S. is now saying that there are NO failsafe controls and that such a war would kill 150,000,000.

Pakistan spent big bucks needed elsewhere for these nukes for exactly the reason that they don't want to be rolled over by India.

If you think they won't use them I suggest you move to New Deli.

Both governments will try to make sure the other GOVERNMENT is what gets nuked. The 150 million just happen to live at the targets.
They are expendable - as all citizens are when a government is at risk. Including Western style democracies and republics.

stusi- I read that the US took control of the warheads as soon as we decided to go into Afghanistan. We convinced Pakistan that they couldn't secure the warheads and told them that if a missle originated from Pakistan, Pakistan would be nuked.

The reason we don't publicize that we have their nukes is because we want to contain India's incursions at the border.

The only reason Pakistan was permitted to have nukes is because India had them- it helped produce somewhat of a stalemate.

But Pakistan also knows that even if they launched all their missles, India's population is so huge that Pakistan would be over run in short order.

The spectre of Pakistan having nukes is only for India's perception, and really have no other tactical purpose.
