Most people state this as a mis-quote of the Bible. What it really says is that the LOVE of money is what is a source of many injurious things - a resounding denouncement of materialism.
It says in another verse that a lover of silver will never be satisfied.
How true of the big wheels of business we see with tens and hundreds of millions of dollars that are not tied to performance at all - while a common worker in the same company may do a splendid job and be randomly let go with no reward or compensation for firing.
They are begging for a class struggle such as gas made life hard for both classes in other countries.

What you said, gravid. I was going to phrase it that excess greed, selfishness, and the desire to control your surroundings is the root of Humankind's misery. Certainly some degree of these traits is more than just normal, they are necesary for one's survival and well-being - it is what allows us to live and procreate. But like any other normal traits, it is the exaggeration of these traits that classifies them as mental illness. Unfortunately, there are those who both applaud and at the same time envy those with this mental illness. Communism - an unworkable idea, tried to reign in this mental illness. They succeeded, but too well.

"Nothing in Excess"...I think that the mythological Greek God Apollo said this.

That's good advice!

I think it depends on what you do with it. There are some very rich people who give very much money to good causes, or leave it all to a university, or to a charity. So..depends on the person, depends on the mindset of the person who has lots of it. Evil? I dont think so. But it sure can change a person.

Hi Hep,I agree, it depends on who has all this money. Can be used for great things or be wasted

Money is absolutely the root of all evil. Either not enough or too much or the lusting for it. Money corrupts.

Me, I feel sorry for the very rich people. They'd acutally be a lot happier and better off if they got rid of so much of it. Plenty of valid and good charities to go around out there that could use all of their excess.

Money needs to go to research. Research can make our lives better. a better statement might be greed is the root of all evil.

Through circumstances my wife and I have known an unusual number of people far above our income group. With the exception of two couples their money has worked to be a source of frustration and discontent.

The one couple that does well makes a lot of money because they both do really really well at their businesses. They each had a successful business and were millionaires before meeting each other and getting married. They limitr how much they cash out jointly to $375k a year and invest the rest.
They drive normal cars not big expensive ones and live in a normal two bedroom condo. The only thing that they visably spend money on that most people don't is they set a beautiful table with German China, sterling serving dishes and cutlery. They just talked to my wife yesterday and they know we are tight for money now so they said they want to go to dinner soon but it is their treat. No looking down their nose - just aware it is a problem and they are not concerned about it.

The other couple has a huge family and has been able to do everything for 6 kids that many would struggle to do for one or two. It shows - The kids are doing super in school are polite and a joy to talk to.

Both couples it is apparent that making big money is not something they are struggling to do. It is a natural consequence of being quite good at their work. They love their jobs and rip into their work with an attitude that it is play and constantly strive to improve by small increments.

NO !!! MOney is not the root of all evil Money is just paper and metal there is nothing living about it.

Money is the root Too all that is evil !!!!

Money in and of its self is meaningless takes people to give it any value or meaning at all.

People who don't have it will live a good Part of there lives slave to there jobs for it, They will lie cheat and steal it they will kill for it.

People When they actually do have money discover there are many other things of this world that other people have that they want more then money.

Musics, Computers, phone services , Cars, clothes, houses,Movies, Drugs, Drink, you name it once you have money it becomes the way Root or the way to obtain all things pleasing to the flesh evil lust and desirer.

Money is the root to all evil Human desires and lust is the root of all evil.

Every business out there works on this principle Because man has desires and wants he is able to obtain Labor from you for a few peices of money and because of your cravings lust and desirers of the things of the world others are able to get that money back from you to feed more of thiers and the cycle continues !!!!
