Between the economy, and the "war" on terrorism, Bush Jr. is begining to remind me of Jimmy Carter - all "character" and no results.

Bush does not have the Reaganites undermining him. Don't you remember the hostages in Iran?
Carter had the smarts, (Zbignew Brezhinsky and Kissinger agreed Carter was the most intelligent of the Presidents they had had contact with), but he was a Democratic fall guy for post Watergate. Bush has master manipulaters working for him.
Jimmy Carter since he left office has left a giant print in the rest of the world. Not just his work for Habitat, but his monitoring of elections ensures a focus on those elections that takes away some of the thuggery that goes on. I have great respect for him.
We'll see what Bush leaves behind. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison

Jimmy Carter has done some tremendous things. Was not Presidential material, and he knew it
Yes I remember the hostages in Iran, and Oliver North and all (wait, wasn't North working under Bush Sr? honestly I don't remember which, and we may be thinking of different things when you said hostages in Iran)
kraftdinner...seriously, are you saying that Bush is immoral? As in comparing Carters being a decent, moral man.

There is no comparison betweeen Jimmy Carter and George Bush. Jimmy Carter was trustworthy and Bush is not. For example, just today, we learn of Bush corruption that Jimmy Carter would not have considered.
On four separate occasions, Texas Gov. George W. Bush has disregarded federal laws by failing to file insider stock trade reports on a timely basis, even back-dating one trade by four months, with no repercussions.
One key trade, on June 22, 1990, made a few weeks before Iraq invaded Kuwait, but reported eight months after the Gulf War had started, netted Bush close to $1 million in profit when he sold stock in the oil company, Harken Energy.

Ok even though I took these white pills to make me sleep before I have to get up at dawn and be put to sleep again... I'm groggy, but if he's doing this insider trading, and whatever and not reporting it, and I'm sure ya'll have a bunch of other immoral, and illegal things you say he's done. I don't care how much 'pull' you think he does have, why have they not done a thing about it??? Hello? why in Gods name if the dems thought it was a rigged election, why oh why have they not started official federal investigations????
Why oh WHY haven't they uncovered his secret plan to become Hitler II????????
Dayum!
I'm just surprised I could type that, when I'm as groggy as I am!
Hi Helenjw, I didn't click the link cuz I'm really fading here
kraftdinner HI! I don't know exactly what you mean about self interest? Do you mean his 'interest' in oil, what his family does?

from the article....
According to an Oct. 28, 1991, Time magazine report, Bush refused to comment on the incident and his involvement with Harken. The self-proclaimed "key presidential advisor," George W.,claimed that he filed a report, but that the SEC had lost it.

For me Near, it all started when he was Govenor of Texas. I think he sent many people to death that weren't guilty. When he won the election, my reaction to him winning would have been the same if Pat Paulson won. Besides unbelievable, it seemed shady to me. The next was when he started talking about dipping into Social Security, which became a reality. Now there's a war that he claims will never end and it's been downhill ever since imo.
